ISTANBUL - Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that government forces have crushed a coup attempt and that the plotters will “pay a heavy price for their treason.” After a night of turmoil in the streets of major cities, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency said all soldiers involved in the attempted coup at the military headquarters in the capital, Ankara, had been taken into custody. The report said anti-terrorism police will now conduct a “detailed search” at the headquarters. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told reporters Saturday that 2,839 officers of various ranks had been taken into military custody. Former Air Force commander Ak›n Öztürk, described as one of the masterminds behind the coup attempt, was detained in Ankara, the Daily Sabah newspaper reported. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Twitter, meanwhile, that Greece had agreed to return eight soldiers who landed in Greece on board a helicopter, seeking asylum. The attempted coup resulted in at least 265 deaths and rocked a key U.S. NATO ally. “Obviously we would invite the government of Turkey, as we always do, to present us with legitimate evidence that withstands scrutiny,” Kerry said. “I’m confident there will be some discussion about that.” In a televised speech Saturday night, Erdogan called on the U.S. to extradite Gulen. With no clear connection to Jihadi groups (and merely a record as a petty criminal), French officials are trying to ascertain whether Bouhlel was a lone actor terrorist or a mentally ill person with whom IS is opportunistically associating. The idea that a mass casualty perpetrator is likely to be suffering from mental illness is consistent with the research on lone actors. My research on suicide terrorism has demonstrated that affiliation with a group is quite different from the research of Criminal Justice professor Adam Lankford of the University of Alabama who insists that many terrorists are suicidal and not sacrificing themselves for a greater cause or for some underlying altruistic motivation of self-sacrifice. The implications for policy and the potential for backlash from terrorists and counter terrorists vary greatly depending on which scenario ends up being accurate for Bouhlel, whether he was in fact radicalized or possible mentally ill matters. President Obama condemned the attack, which came just 10 days after a gunman killed five police officers in Dallas — and 12 days after police in Baton Rouge fatally shot 37-year-old Alton Sterling while he was pinned to the ground. Police have said the officers, who were white, thought Sterling, who was black, was reaching for a gun in the July 5 shooting. Sterling’s funeral was Friday. The gunman, who was African-American, was killed at the scene, police said. But no motivation for the shootings was immediately been revealed. A law enforcement official identified the gunman as Gavin E. Long, 29. 8 killed after construction elevator falls in east China

BEIJING - Eight people in an eastern Chinese city were killed when the construction elevator they were in plummeted from an apartment building, the local government said Sunday. The Longkou city government in Shandong province said on its official microblog page that the elevator fell from the 18th story of the building under construction. Eight people who were in the elevator when it fell Friday were immediately taken to hospitals but none survived, the government said. Despite improvements in recent years, work safety remains a problem in China, where regulations are routinely ignored and cost-cutting by management often lead to accidents.

"there is no credible evidence linking the Saudi Government to 9/11." Take a look at pages 6 and 7 (un-redacted) evidence by the FBI of at least two individuals being Saudi Intelligence agents working out of Culver City California beginning in 2000. Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi Intelligence agent and his cohort Osama Bassnan, with close ties to the Saudi Government, were investigated by the FBI as providing financial assistance to the hijackers. Note: Don't be confused about the actual role of the hijackers, not proven to be on the 4 jets, but possibly on the actual flights that did NOT hit the buildings. A redacted Saudi Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, played an active role in financing the scheme.
