KENTUCKY QUESTION SEN McCONNELL'S BACKBONE!

  Conservatives,

It's not just Republicans across the nation who are losing confidence in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY); it's Republicans in Kentucky too.

SCF recently conducted a poll in the Bluegrass State to see what voters thought about McConnell's leadership.

Nearly half of Republicans in Kentucky (49%) believe that McConnell "has been too willing to make deals with the Democrats" compared to only about a third (35%) who believe he "is reflecting conservative KY values."

But even more telling is the strong opposition to Senator McConnell's decision to fund Planned Parenthood to avoid a fight with President Obama.

Among Republican voters, 60% believe that McConnell should force the president to defund Planned Parenthood using a "must-pass" appropriations bill compared to only 19% who believe he should try to persuade the president to sign separate legislation to defund the organization.

It's no wonder Republicans are losing confidence in him at home. He promised them he would fight the president's agenda during the campaign last year, but now he's doing exactly the opposite.

Now, if you're wondering what Kentucky Republicans think about the risk of a government slow-down in fighting to defund Planned Parenthood (McConnell's go-to excuse for surrendering), we tested that too.

Only 17% of Republicans agree with McConnell that a partial government slow-down should be avoided at all costs while a whopping 63% believe that it would be worth it to defund Planned Parenthood.

That is a major rejection of his current strategy!

This survey of 700 Republicans was conducted August 2-3, 2015 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.7%.

These numbers have Senator McConnell very worried because he knows that once voters see through his excuses and lose confidence in his leadership, it's very hard to restore it.

After blocking the amendment to defund Planned Parenthood offered to the highway bill by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), McConnell was forced to stage a "show vote" on the matter to stop his political bleeding at home.

The show vote may have given him some political cover, but he will pay a heavy price in September if he forces the Senate to pass a "continuing resolution" that funds Planned Parenthood.

There's simply no excuse for it.

Please continue to contact the Senate Republicans over the August break to urge them to oppose all funding for Planned Parenthood, even if they have to filibuster Senator McConnell's bill to do it.

Thank you for your support and for working so hard to defend the Constitution and restore America's greatness.
