SERMON - THE BOOK OF REVELATION IN WORDS OF UNDERSTANDING part 7

The Book of Revelation
In
Words of Understanding
Part 7

As we leaned in previous sermons the Book of Revelation is a Book containing many symbols and meanings that are given in a manner so as to require deep thought, a lot of insight that the Holy Spirit will provide, and references to Scriptures written in earlier Books of God’s Word, the Bible. I ask that you pray that He continues to grant me the wisdom to place the words of my sermons in such a manner so as to allow you, my dear Christian friends, to gain the knowledge to gain enlightenment.

Revelation 6:  7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The Lamb, Jesus Christ opened the, “fourth seal,” as John heard the voices of the redeemed represented by the, ‘Eagle,’ and saw a, “pale horse.”  That “pale horse” looks like a white horse until you look closely. When you actually near that horse you will see that it is actually mottled and is actually in disguise and is trying to appear as a white horse.

The significance here is the need to closely listen to those that attempt to pass themselves off as Christian. As they pass themselves off as Christian they often look like, often sound like and often appears right but their teachings lead to spiritual death.

In all of my sermons respecting the openings of seals you would be correct in realizing that, it is through the acts of the Holy Spirit (opening the seals) that truth is portrayed.

The RCC passes itself off as totally Christian. However we have learned of their many deceptions and teachings that directly contradict God’s Word. From the RCC arose a man, Martin Luther, who correctly learned, through God’s guidance, that works was not the key to salvation but faith was the real key. (Romans 1:17) It is that “pale horse” that is a mixture of actual truth, God’s Word, combined with false doctrine.

The time period here is of AD 530 until AD 1530.

The weapon employed by the “rider” was God’s sword of truth. If you consider so-called Pastors and so-called Christian teachers utilizing God’s Word, the Bible, to lend meaning to their misinterpretations and outright imaginations of truth, it is not too difficult to understand how famine (hunger for the Word of God), plague (false teachings) all provided by “wild beasts of the earth (false Pastors-Teachers) can lead to spiritual death!

What is being revealed here is ‘False religion is not to be taken lightly, it will damn your soul.’ In compromising your Christianity you are condoning the ‘spirit of compromise’ and placing your soul in grave peril.

Revelation 6:  9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

In saying, “Souls under the altar,” the meaning is of believers of Christ as He is our Altar.

Slain is to die to sin in accepting God’s Word as those that believe in Him keep His laws and abide by His Commandments.

Contrary to the teachings of others the “souls’ spoken of here are not those who had been martyred in days past. We must take to hearts that this Book of God’s Word is written in symbolic language and a martyred soul cannot properly represent a martyr. This may seem confusing until you pray on it!

The time period represented here is AD 1730 until AD 1880. You may ask, what happened to the time of AD 1530 until AD 1730. When you consider that each time period actually precedes the systems of religion teachings it is more clearly understood.

Previously God had given Martin Luther the true teachings of Christianity. After Luther’s death his followers began to fall back to RCC doctrines.  God then allowed John and Charles Wesley to teach the truth of faith as well as the necessity to be holy. If you will recall, the meaning of ‘holy,’ is ‘spiritually sound.’

“They called out…” seemingly for vengeance. Not so as souls seek no vengeance but do seek the Word of God.

These souls were given a “white robe’ therein signifying their being righteous souls. (John 29:14, Isaiah 61:10). Their wants were to seek God’s Words for all mankind. God was not telling them to wait until those in need were killed, in a physical sense, but to wait for all men to see the truth of God’s Word as it should be and must be taught!

The rest granted God’s servants is freedom from the ravages of sin as His servants die to sin as they see the real truth

The initial seals tell of the four horses, White-Holy Spirit, Red- Unbelief, Black- Apostasy and Pale-Compromise. Which will you choose?
(Closing prayer)

Father, our Creator and our source of truth, we thank You for Your Word and pray that any that may hear Your Word will not only read it but believe it in their hearts. It is through believing and having the faith You allow us to have that sustains us in this world in which we live. Father, we praise You and worship You with all of our hearts, being and might.

Lord we ask that You give Your Divine protection to all of our military, our elected officials, judges, police, and those charged with keeping this nation secure and free from terrorists. Open their eyes to justice, their hearts to Your enlightenment and their minds to freedom in a manner befitting of You.

We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen.

  1. Thank you, Lee, for the post. You may interest in the book, Black Country. The opening book in The Asbury Triptych book series details much of the early movement started by John Wesley. The trilogy is based on the life of Francis Asbury, the young preacher mentored by John Wesley and George Whitefield. Black Country details Asbury's early ministry in England before he leaves for the American colonies in 1771. The website for the article is www.francisasburytriptych.com. Again, thank you for the article.
