The force of attraction between any two objects that have mass is?
Gravitation, or gravitational pull. In the case of one body orbiting around the other, it consists of centripital force - the force pulling the two bodies together and an opposing force called centrifigal force trying to keep the bodies apart. If the two forces are exactly equal, the two bodies will remain in equilibrium to infinity. If there is a difference in the two forces, the bodies will eventually either converge (crash into one another) or fly off in their separate directions. In any case, let's hope that earth and sun are in pretty good equilibrium. One of the four fundamental interactions, gravity is responsible for the fact that any objects with mass attract one another. According to general relativity, it is a space time curvature, but according to quantum mechanics it is the result of exchanges of virtual gravitons.
Vector analysis indicates this train was doomed in the curve of gloom !
There's also analysis that shows evidence of an explosion before
derailment of Amtrak train 188, en route from Washington DC to New York !

Simulated Gravity with Centripetal Force
(and a lack of centripetal force)
We tend to feel like weight (the force of gravity) is acting on us only when we can feel the floor pushing back up on the bottom of our feet. That's why when we are in free fall we feel like we are weightless because nothing is pushing on the bottom of our feet. It also explains why when you are in an elevator and it accelerates downward, you feel like you weigh less than normal because the floor doesn't push as hard against your feet. (There are other factors that go into feeling weightless that have to do with your body not having to apply a force on your guts to keep them in place...but that has to do with feeling weightless not with simulating gravity.) As we look toward the possibility of living in space for long periods of time (whether traveling or just staying in orbit around the Earth) we find that humans don't function as well in weightless situations. We get upset stomachs and in general we need a floor to push against us so we can move around an be productive. The question then arises, how do we create artificial gravity, or how do we simulate it? [...]

Centrifugal force (Latin for "center fleeing") describes the tendency of an object following a curved path to fly outwards, away from the center of the curve. It's not really a force; it results from inertia — the tendency of an object to resist any change in its state of rest or motion. It usually takes some personal experience to believe that something exists. We believe in centrifugal force because we have all experienced it. How about the gyroscopic effect? A wooden ball is attached to the rim of a spinning wheel. The ball is held in place by a string. When the spring is cut, the ball flies in a straight tangent to the wheel. In the camera's frame of reference, the ball constantly accelerates around in a circle due to the centripetal force pulling it inwards. When the string is cut, the acceleration stops, and the ball flies away in a straight tangential line. When the string is cut in the rotating frame of reference, a ficticious force (centrifugal force) accelerates the ball.
