1. ObamaCare's Five Years of Failure - by Logan Albright via The Washington Times
On March 23, 2010, exactly five years ago today, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. Virtually no one had actually read the law, and still fewer understood the full implications of a government takeover of health insurance markets. Now, five years later, we are experiencing these effects firsthand.
Obamacare was sold to the American people — unsuccessfully, since most people opposed it at the time of its passage — as a social safety net to help poor people, to stop them from having to live at the mercy of ruthless insurance companies, and to ensure that every American, regardless of income, could get the health care they needed. For many, it was a compelling story, but like all things that sound too good to be true, it turned out to be nothing but smoke and mirrors. Read more here...

2. Capitol Hill Update, March 23, 2015 by Josh Withrow
House & Senate/Schedule: Both chambers are in town for one more frantic week before recessing for two weeks. Congress will be back in session on April 13th.
Legislative Highlight of the Week: The main event in Congress this week is going to be the votes on budget resolutions for Fiscal Year 2016 in both House and Senate. You can read more about the upcoming budget process HERE.
House/Spending: House Republicans, led by new Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) have put forth a budget plan very much in the tradition of Rep. Paul Ryan’ s budgets in past years. The Price Budget proposes a large number of very positive reforms, including: Read more here...

4. New Mexico Passes a Sweeping Bill to Protect Innocent People's Property from Civil Asset Forfeiture - by Jason Pye
The New Mexico Legislature passed a sweeping civil asset forfeiture reform bill last week to protect innocent people's property and due process rights. The bill, HB 560, effectively bans the pernicious practice, requiring a criminal conviction before property can be forfeited to the state.
Before the passage of HB 560, New Mexico had relatively bad laws on the books concerning this issue, basically empowering overzealous police departments to seize assets through a relatively low standard. In its 2010 report, Policing for Profit, the Institute for Justice, a libertarian public interest firm, gave the Land of Enchantment a "D+" for its civil asset forfeiture laws. Read more here...
5. Hypocrisy Alert: Obama Signs Executive Order to Lead on Climate Change - by Tom Borelli
The week following the Obama’s taking two separate planes to Los Angeles, President Obama signed an executive order that will mandate the federal government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent from 2008 levels.
The President is committed to addressing the climate change threat – both by taking action here at home and showing leadership on the world stage. As part of his commitment to lead by example to curb the emissions that are driving climate change, today President Obama will issue an Executive Order that will cut the Federal Government’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 40 percent over the next decade from 2008 levels — saving taxpayers up to $18 billion in avoided energy costs — and increase the share of electricity the Federal Government consumes from renewable sources to 30 percent. Complementing this effort, several major Federal suppliers are announcing commitments to cut their own GHG emissions. Today, the Administration is hosting a roundtable that will bring some of these large Federal suppliers together to discuss the benefits of their GHG reduction targets or to make their first-ever corporate commitments to disclose emissions and set new reduction goals. Read more here...
6. Watch Deneen Borelli Debate the Death Tax on Fox & Friends - by Deneen Borelli
Representative Linda Sanchez (D-CA) confirmed liberals believe having wealth is unfair and justifies the need for taxing it.
During a hearing that exposed the adverse consequences of the death tax, Sanchez complained that individuals getting food stamps meet work requirements and are drug tested while individuals receiving an inheritance don’t have any social obligations. See more here...
