BOEHNER ANF McCONNELL MUST 'GROW A PAIR!'

Fellow Conservative:

There's a simple way for Republicans to stop President Obama's executive amnesty – defund it and don't back down.

Boehner & McConnellUnfortunately, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have already indicated that they plan to capitulate.

By vowing to do whatever the president wants to keep him from shutting down the government, both leaders have surrendered the power of the purse, which is one of the only checks Congress has on the Executive Branch.

This is why Senate Democrats are united in blocking the House bill to stop the president's amnesty even though as many as eight of them previously said they oppose his action. Why should these Democrats compromise when they know Republicans will ultimately give them everything they want?

The GOP establishment claims that they share the same goals as conservatives and that we only differ on tactics, but even if we believed that (and we don't) their tactics are lousy. Preemptive surrender always leads to defeat.

Let's be honest. Republican leaders are planning to fund amnesty.

For the next several weeks, you're going to hear RINOs like Senator John McCain (R-AZ) say that winning this fight isn't possible because there aren't 60 votes in the Senate. Each time they say this, they will embolden the Democrats to stand their ground. These Republicans are rooting for failure.

Leader McConnell may hold several votes on the bill, but he won't actually do what it takes to pass it. He won't passionately make the moral argument for stopping amnesty. He won't force the Democrats to do a talking filibuster or cancel the upcoming recess to expose their obstruction.

Lucy and the FootballThe leadership promised to stop the president's amnesty with this bill, but now they say it can't pass. They're playing Lucy and the Football again.

Even worse, Speaker Boehner singled out Senators Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) this week and said they're responsible for getting Democrats to vote for the bill. Yet again, the GOP establishment is trying to blame conservatives for their own broken promises.

Instead of working to make a real difference, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are only trying to make a petty point. They're hoping conservatives will fail, give up, and stop trying. But that's not going to happen.

We conservatives will keep pressuring red state Democrats, but nobody is going to be surprised if they don't listen. GOP leaders have sabotaged this effort from the start just like they did in 2013 when conservatives fought to stop Obamacare.

We hope Speaker Boehner and Leader McConnell keep the promise they made back in December. We hope they ignore their cronies at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and put real pressure on Democrats to back down.

But if they wave the white flag again, they will be responsible for funding President Obama's amnesty – not Jeff Sessions, not Ted Cruz, and not House conservatives. They will have forced American taxpayers to fund one of the worst assaults on the Constitution our nation has ever seen.

We will keep you updated as this debate develops. Thank you for your support for SCF and your dedication to the principles that make America great.

Sincerely,
