1. Watch Deneen Borelli Discuss Social Unrest in Ferguson, Missouri on Hannity
Social unrest continues to escalate following the tragic shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
I had the opportunity to discuss this topic on Sean Hannity’s Great American Panel on Fox News.
While most of the media attention focuses on the social unrest, it’s important to also recognize the underlying problem of the community’s poor economic conditions. High unemployment and poverty rates in a city such as Ferguson only add to the frustrations within the community. Watch here...

2. Congress Under Pressure from Left and Right to 'Demilitarize' Police
Groups on the left and right are uniting behind calls to end what they say is the rise of a "militarized" police force in the United States.
They say the controversial police tactics seen this week in Ferguson, Mo., are not isolated to the St. Louis County Police Department and warn the rise of heavily armed law enforcement agencies has become an imminent threat to civil liberties. Read more here...
3. Pushed to the Edge, One Family's Health Care Woes
Uncertainty in health care has now become personal to a family in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
“Imagine being a parent of two chronically ill kids, having no more credit and then finding out your children’s medications will no longer be covered in a month. That gives you a sense of life in our house. We are afraid we will lose coverage next year,” says mom Pattie Curran.
Families like the Currans that have critical needs, have been feeling the brunt of higher deductibles, higher out-of-pocket expenses, higher co-pays and higher premiums. Read more here...
4. The Ex-Im Bank Wastes Millions on Travel
As Americans become increasingly aware of the U.S. Export-Import Bank and what it does, calls for its dissolution have increased. The public tolerance for corporate cronyism is at an all-time low, and the Ex-Im Bank’s primary mandate - providing taxpayer loans to companies that are too risky to be secured on the open market - runs directly counter to our instincts for what is right and fair.
Defenders of the Bank argue that it creates jobs by helping out companies. That assumes that the Bank’s budget wouldn’t be put to better use in the hands of taxpayers, who have to worry about little things like risk and solvency when managing their personal investments. These are things commonly ignored by a government gambling with other people’s money. Read more here...
5. Liberty Beats "The Right To be Left Alone"
"The Right To Be Left Alone" is a poem that explores the recent NSA surveillance revelations by Edward Snowden and the deeper legal and moral issues associated with the loss of Individual Privacy. This poem seeks to confront and debunk many of the common myths about NSA surveillance. More importantly, this poem seeks to bring this vastly important issue into the American Consciousness, to provoke conversation, thought, and force the viewer to confront these important questions. Most importantly, this poem seeks to show everyday Americans how these revelations affect them on a personal level and even existential level. Watch here...

6. ObamaCare + IRS = More Tax Forms for Everyone
In 2013, the IRS itself estimated that the average taxpayer would spend 13 hours preparing and filing their taxes. That’s just the basic forms – for those who have different kinds of investment income, or lots of deductions, or who run a small business, the time and money burden grows much higher.
And that was before the IRS got into your health care.
The reason why ObamaCare compliance will be such a pain for everyone involved is the IRS’s complex formulas used to determine who is eligible for premium subsidies for their health insurance, and for how much. The final rule for who gets how much is a migraine-inducing 24 pages of fine print (if the IRS in your health care keeps you awake at night, you can read the rule HERE as a sleep aid). Read more here....
