SILVER STATE CONFIDENTIAL 07/23/2014

THE BILBRAY FILES

Can you imagine if Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus came to Las Vegas to stump for Republican Rep. Joe Heck and said…

“It is absolutely clear and key: With the man vote, Joe will win.  If men stay home Joe won’t win. … And we need another young father to represent the state of Nevada. And that man is Joe Heck.”

The outrage would be instantaneous and unrelenting.  Rightfully so.  We should be electing candidates based on their experience and governing philosophy, not their genitalia.

Nevertheless, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairman of the Democrat Party, waltzed into Vegas this week, whipped out her Gender Card, and said this about Heck’s general election opponent, Erin Bilbray-Kohn

“It is absolutely clear and key: With the women vote, Erin will win.  If women stay home Erin won’t win. … And we need another young mom to represent the state of Nevada. And that woman is Erin Bilbray.”

Yet never was heard even one discouraging word about such naked sexism.

Except, of course, here in Silver State Confidential.

A funny side note: Bilbray-Kohn tweeted this on Tuesday

“It was standing room only at this morning's Women for Bilbray event. Lots of excitement.”

What the tweet didn’t say, but the attached photo clearly showed, was that the conference table for the event only had enough seats for 20 people.  I mean, how hard is it to have a “standing room only” event if there are only 20 chairs?

This campaign is SO lame.

MUTH’S TRUTHS

--> Correction: I’ve been advised that Clark County GOP boss Dave McKeon threatened the party’s former Treasurer, Matt Passalacqua, with legal action, not police action.  I still don’t know what the brouhaha was all about, but Matt has always been a standup guy and McKeon has always been a horse’s…

--> This just in: “Nevada education ranked last in nation.”  That’s the headline on a Las Vegas Review-Journal story noting that “Nevada’s public school system remains dead last in the nation for a third year running.”  To blame: (a) the teachers union, (b) public school bureaucrats, (c) Gov. Brian Sandoval, and (d) Sandoval’s under-qualified Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dale Erquiaga.

--> Speaking of government-run education, the Washoe County School District just canned its superintendent, Pedro Martinez, for, according to a liberal blog, “misrepresenting his credentials.”  Which strikes me as kinda odd, because usually affirmative action hires aren’t required to have any credentials.

--> A woman has been arrested and charged with seven felony counts for registering to vote twice under a false name.  Democrat Secretary of State Ross Miller, running to be the state’s next attorney general, declared that just because someone was arrested for voter registration fraud doesn’t mean voter registration fraud is “widespread.”

Maybe.  But the fact is, as demonstrated by this arrest, it DOES exist.  Which bolsters the case for more stringent voter identification procedures, including photo ID at polling locations.  I mean, if this woman was caught, how many more are out there undetected?

--> And while we’re on this subject, the NAACP is in town and claiming that photo ID laws are being passed by Republicans all around the country, not do deter voter fraud, but to suppress minority voting.  Which is a load of crap.  Which is par for the course for this race-baiting organization.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“Chuck: Okay, okay, maybe you were right about (Chairman) Dave McKeon. He's turned into a dictator.  I believed him when he said the CCRCC would be more ‘inclusive’.  What a joke THAT turned out to be.” – Disgruntled member of the Clark County Republican Party (name withheld)
