RedState Briefing 07/02/2014

Morning Briefing
For July 2, 2014
Jim DeMint Will Be At The RedState Gathering
We would not be doing a lot of what we are doing had Jim DeMint of South Carolina not stood up and led the grassroots in its fight for smaller government. Senator DeMint was willing to tell his own party no long before many in Washington were.

Not only was he willing to tell his party no, he was willing to fight to get like minded conservatives elected to Congress. Having seen Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and others join the fight in Washington, Senator DeMint moved to the Heritage Foundation where he now leads a revolution of ideas within the conservative movement.

I’m so pleased and honored that Senator DeMint would join us at the RedState Gathering this year. Please register now and come meet him. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI:  FEC Now Looking Into Pro Cochran SuperPAC
Not only do we have allegations of vote buying in the Mississippi GOP Senate runoff, we now have the federal agency in charge of elections looking into whether this SuperPac with ties to the Barbour clan violated the law. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Hysteria, Thy name is Woman
“For at least two thousand years of European history until the late nineteenth century hysteria referred to a medical condition thought to be particular to women and caused by disturbances of the uterus” . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Speaker John Boehner reiterates earmark ban
The problem with earmarks is very simple: it encourages Members of Congress to think of the budget as their private piggy bank from which to reward loyal constituents. The lack of that semi-traditional largess is probably one major reason why current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants all of us to die in a grease fire, and I for one am well-pleased by his reaction. I’m not fond of Harry Reid, either. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Obama Responds to Hamas Terrorists’ Murder of US Teen with “Strongest Possible” Meaningless Words
Hamas terrorists kidnapped and killed three Israeli teenagers, one of whom was a U.S. citizen.

These jihadist terrorists murdered kids.  Yet, the reaction of the Obama Administration has been an absolute disgrace.

Remember, a U.S. citizen was just murdered (along two other Israeli teens) by Palestinian terrorists – known brutal terrorist who routinely fire rockets at Israeli civilians – and the Obama Administration responded by urging restraint.

In fact, President Obama actually urged “all parties to refrain from steps that could further destabilize the situation.” . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Obama assails GOP on immigration and says he’ll go it alone
John Boehner seems to have abandoned the plan that we heard so much about earlier in the year, i.e. waiting until after the primary season to push the noxious Senate comprehensive immigration reform law, and decided that the GOP base is simply not in the mood to move such a monumental bill under a president who is so disdainful of the law of the land.

Unable to bully the House GOP into signing on to a massive, amnesty-heavy immigration bill, the administration has manufactured a humanitarian crisis to change the facts on the ground, an exercise which, like Fast & Furious, seems to have run away from them, Obama is continuing with the “blame Congress” campaign he unveiled in Minneapolis last Friday.

Yesterday, Obama waited until Rush Limbaugh was safely off the air and lambasted the GOP for not giving him what he wants . . . please click here for the rest of the post
