DEMAND A SENATE VOTE ON 'LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION BILL'- DEMAND THAT REID ALLOW VOTE!

Dear Conservatives,

Thanks to your petitions, postcards, phone calls and letters, we have an all-time record number of cosponsors on our Life at Conception Act.

And with mid-term elections coming up, now’s the time to demand an up-or-down vote to let every pro-lifer know exactly where every member of Congress stands on the Sanctity of Life.

That’s why more than 3,000 NPLA members recently chipped in to our Vote Now Blitz.

These donations are funding TV and internet ads urging Mitch McConnell and John Boehner to do everything in their power to schedule votes on the Life at Conception Act.

The Vote Now Blitz will be vital in building a tidal wave of pressure for up-or-down votes, but first, we have to overcome one more obstacle: Harry Reid’s chokehold on the Senate.

The fact is, Reid is using his power as Majority Leader to block legislation he and his allies oppose from even reaching the Senate floor.

If voting on a bill would put Reid’s fellow pro-abortion senators on the spot in their fall re-election campaign, then he simply keeps it from coming up for a vote.

But a recent Wall Street Journal article explains well what we have in mind to overcome Reid and force a vote in the U.S. Senate.

The WSJ observed that in politics, “bad behavior tends to continue until the abusers get a taste of their own abuse.”

So they suggest that if Reid won’t let his opponents hold the votes they want, “then simply refuse to allow any legislation to pass.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Of course, Harry Reid fears a vote on the Life at Conception Act, because it would force his allies in pro-life districts to go on the record for or against ending abortion-on-demand.

But by committing to shut down the Senate until he gives in, pro-life senators can force Reid to schedule an up-or-down vote.

That’s why it’s vital we build up our momentum and demand a vote from Republican leaders in Congress.

Of course, in addition to pushing for immediate roll call votes, we must continue to put the heat on individual Members of Congress to not only push for a vote but cosponsor the Life at Conception Act.

I’m counting on you to let your Senator and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell know there is no more important business before the Senate than ending the cruel slaughter of the unborn.

I believe that with the combined efforts of NPLA and its members across every front, we will ultimately prevail in overturning Roe v. Wade and ending abortion-on-demand.

For Life,
