RedState Briefing 06/09/2014

Morning Briefing
For June 9, 2014
Your Must Read of the Day
Six soldiers died after Bowe Bergdahl’s desertion. Democrats are attacking the GOP claiming the GOP is using this issue for purely partisan purposes. But soldiers who served with Bowe Bergdahl disagree. They say these six soldiers would not have died had Bergdahl not disappeared. Even one two time Obama voting member of the military agrees. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

The Chamber Of Commerce, National Right To Life, & The National Rifle Association Are Waging War On Conservatives
Most Republicans prefer to vote for the most conservative candidates in elections. Lets face it, nobody is inspired by moderation, compromise, and beltway-style politicking.

Yet somehow establishment Republicans continue to get elected.

One of the reasons is their money advantage. Another is the apathy of ignorant voters who perform the “civic duty” they learned about in school by dutifully checking “R” on the ballot box.  But most voters are at least mildly interested in where a candidate stands on the issues. They aren’t motivated enough to actually peruse the voting records of incumbents (lets face it, it is a bit complicated), so instead they look towards endorsements for assurance. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Lindsey Graham, Impeachment and Tea Party Conversion
Lindsay Graham surprised a lot of us earlier in the week when he said that if Obama persists in releasing Taliban, and presumably al Qaeda, prisoners in contravention of the law then many in the GOP would push for impeachment . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Thad Cochran’s campaign denies he’s a lackwit
On the day of the Mississippi primary election, The Atlantic’s Molly Ball published a profile on septuagenarian Senator Thad Cochran called Thad Cochran, the last of the naïve Republicans. Great piece. I encourage you to read it. It gives a good profile of the pathetic nature of Cochran, his campaign, and his supporters.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Thad Cochran’s campaign reeks of flopsweat
Thad Cochran’s senate campaign is shrinking before our very eyes. Despite burning through millions of dollars and the credibility of the NRSC, the geriatric, though apparently still randy, Cochran finished behind challenger Chris McDaniel. Without the large scale expenditure of funds by go-along-get-along groups like the Chamber of Commerce and Haley Barbour’s “conservative” PAC and scurrilous attacks from the NRSC and the clownish Brad Dayspring that would have shamed a crack ‘ho the race would have been a blow out. And, let’s face it, the only reason the establishment wants Cochran in the game is because in his dotage he will vote for whatever pork barrel spending they tell him to. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Obama declined to trade cash for Bergdahl
Just about every hour a new revelation is made about the facts and circumstances of the terrorist-leader-for-deserter swap engineered by our commander in chief. We’ve known for a while that Barack Obama had agitated for the release of these five particular prisoners since 2011, I don’t know if they are distant relatives or what. Now FoxNews is reporting that  that there were active negotiations for Bergdahl’s release in December 2013 for an undisclosed amount of cash and no prisoners . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Pat McKinney for South Carolina Lt. Governor
The primary is just around the corner in South Carolina. If you have not made up your mind who to support, let me suggest Pat McKinney. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Someone didn’t tell Mike Rogers and Devin Nunes the Rules Of Republican Support(TM)
For a while now, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has told conservatives that we risk Republicans losing to Democrats when we pit outsiders against incumbents because we don’t like their politics. However, the NRSC clearly doesn’t communicate with members of the House of Representatives and their cohorts in the NRCC where these rules are concerned, as two GOP representatives are fundraising again one of their own. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Pitt Cue Co. — The Cookbook
I think I have finally arrived.

I get a lot of political books to review. But I have now reached the point where I am getting cookbooks to review. I would much rather review a cookbook. The first to show up in the mail is hitting me perfectly where I am in the kitchen at the moment.

For those of you who do not know, I cook. I am an amateur, but I love it. I have a Big Green Egg and am on the verge of investing in a DCS grill to replace an older Weber gas grill. I am one of those people who gets up at 5 o’clock in the morning to get bread going and rising so I can have fresh, homemade bread, for breakfast. I cook.

And I am always looking for new cookbooks and magazines and recipes.

This one is one of the most intriguing of late. Pitt Cue Co. The Cookbook is a cookbook for a barbecue restaurant in . . . wait for it . . . London. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Worst Atrocity Since Hiroshima: Shockwave About to Hit?
James Dale Davidson is back – once again – with another portfolio-rattling exposé. His last exposé helped lead to six Congressional hearings…and blew major holes in America’s big media monopolies. Now he is about to do it again, but this time on a story so polarizing, it will make the Watergate’s of the past –– read like back-page fodder. What’s more, the implications it will have on almost every investment you own…promise to be as equally dramatic…
