MUTH'S TRUTHS 05/13/2014

THE TORTURED POLITICAL PATH OF NEVADA’S “MR. OBAMACARE”

To hear moderate lieutenant governor candidate Mark Hutchison tell it, he single-handedly did battle against ObamaCare FREE OF CHARGE and we should all worship at his feet for it.

Or more to the point at hand, elect him to an office he clearly is under-qualified and ill-suited for – unless the qualifications are being the governor’s “Yes” man.

Now for the real story…

1.)  Hutchison was a bit player in that ObamaCare lawsuit, which was actually filed along with several other states that did the actual heavy legal lifting.

2.)  He lost (proving again, I guess, that you get what you pay for).

3.)  He then ran for the state senate on his ObamaCare platform...and proceeded to vote to implement ObamaCare in Nevada on three separate occasions.

In other words, he was against ObamaCare before he was for it.  Very John Kerry-like.

In his defense, Mr. ObamaCare justifies support for Nevada’s ObamaCare exchange by saying it was better for Nevada to run its own ObamaCare exchange rather than the federal government’s ObamaCare exchange.

Which is like saying he’d prefer a bullet through the head rather than a sword through the heart.

Only…

Nevada’s home-grown ObamaCare exchange – Nevada Health Link – is an even bigger disaster than the federal ObamaCare exchange!

Worse, thanks to legislators such as Sen. Hutchison, Nevada is now locked into the Nevada ObamaCare boondoggle and can’t, as other states are doing, scrap the Nevada ObamaCare exchange and join the federal ObamaCare exchange.

Thanks a million, Hutch.

Oh, but Gov. Sandoval found a silver lining behind the colossal failure of the Silver State exchange: “Nevada’s Medicaid enrollments have soared,” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Medicaid.  That would be the “free” health care program that Hutchison voted to expand and Nevada’s taxpayers will have to pay for in just a couple of years once the federal money for the expansion dries up.

Thanks a billion, Hutch.

The fact of the matter is Mark Hutchison put forward only minimal effort in opposition to ObamaCare, lost Round One, quit the fight and then joined the opposing side.  This is a man who is all about “spin” and political calculation and hasn’t a truly principled bone in his body.

No wonder he’s the governor’s boy.
