THE LEFT IS DESTROYING CIVILIZED NATIONS

My thoughts on conservatism, patriotism and neocons

Friends, I would like to give you my view on the Ukraine situation. In Brazil, the Left and the Right are saying the same thing: that Russia has invaded a sovereign state, etc. Interestingly, on the Venezuela situation, occupied today by many Cuban "physicians" and other "professionals," the (mostly leftist) mainstream media has been silent. Very appropriately, the Right in Brazil has been denouncing the many abuses of socialist Maduro.
So there is a clear difference between their opposing stances. But why is there no difference over Ukraine? Basically, the Brazilian leftist media is saying the same things the Right is saying. Of course, the pro-US Right in Brazil is saying that what is happening in Crimea is a proof that Putin is intent on bringing back the Soviet Union.
Three articles that have helped me to see clearly are:

Putin crosses Obama's pink line, by Michael Savage in WND,
(I have translated these articles because of necessity, because Brazilian conservatives are translating and publishing the neocon view on Ukraine, and I am trying to give my fellow Brazilians an opportunity to know views that are conservative, mare not neocon.)
For years, I see Americans divided over gay marriage and abortion, and most the US media supporting the most liberal view.
But on Ukraine, I am not seeing a divided America. Liberals and conservatives are getting united for war, as if Russians had invaded US territory!
I am worried about it, because it seems that an opportunity for war (as viewed by neocons) provokes more passion than a necessary defense for the family.
Can conservatives detach themselves from these strange passions?
I am a Brazilian, but I do not put patriotism on equal foot with eternal values. Brazil is today ruled by a socialist woman, and she has not my support. I do not support everything Brazil does. I question it. But I do not understand this passion of American conservatives, of equaling often conservatism and patriotism, of getting united with liberals and leftists for war, even with unconvincing pretexts.
I think that patriotism is ok if it is reasonable, but we should be defenders of family and conservatism in a supranational way.
Did you see the recent case where the Justice Department defeated asylum seekers on homeschooling base? The Romeike family was denied asylum in a decision that defeated ALL homeschoolers. Yet, to calm down conservatives, the Homeland Security has allowed to stay in the US as long as they do not get involve in legal troubles. When this troubles comes, they can easily deport them and say: "Hey, they are not being deported for homeschooling!"
This is a malicious travesty of justice, and American conservatives are buying it.
Let me tell you something. Communists tried to take over the Brazilian government in 1964. But then the military hindered them. After this, many Brazilian communists fled Brazil. Presbyterian ministers, with communist leanings, fled to America! They found perfect refuge in America. This in the 1960s!!
Many communists in Brazil were "protected" in America during the military government in Brazil. They did not choose Cuba, Soviet Union or China. I do not understand why America welcomed them. I do not understand why America welcomed Brazilian leftist ministers.
As a conservative evangelical, I have had a very hard time with visas and countries, but why do not leftist Protestants have any of these troubles?
Even so, Brazilian conservatives defend American interests in the Ukraine situation in a way that is not different from the liberal media.
But now, they do it more passionately, because they believe that the Soviet Union is coming back, and they need to prepare themselves to fight.
I am a great admirer of Ronald Reagan. In fact, I have six of his biographies. Brazil has never had such president. But even being a Reaganist, I am unable to get me aligned with modern conservatives when they get aligned with the leftist media in Ukraine and other issues.
But I can support values, including the current Russian law protecting children from homosexual propaganda.
Would that America had such law. Would that America were passionate for the family more than she is for wars. But, on the contrary, America is passionately promoting and advocating global homosexual propaganda.
As a pro-family conservative Christian, I think:
The Venezuelan people do not deserve Maduro as their president.
The Brazilian people do not deserve Dilma Rousseff as their president.
The American people do not deserve Obama as their president.
But I would like to see a Reagan in Venezuela and Brazil.
