Establishment Republicans are a big problem for the Tea Party
imageAccording to a Pew Research Center survey, the unfavorability rating of the Tea Party stood at 49 percent in October 2013, up from 25 percent in February 2010. Favorability was at 30 percent, modestly down from 33 percent where it stood in February 2010. Why the unfavorable trend?

Who's Right? Business owners or Christian bikers?
imageAs thousands of bikers from across the country descend on this beach town, many will come wearing leather vests covered with patches, or "colors," proclaiming their allegiance to everything from veterans' organizations to religions to ethnic groups.

Sarah Palin rewrites 'Green Eggs and Ham' for CPAC speech
imageSarah Palin brought a crowd of like-minded conservatives to their feet at the close of this year's Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday -- with some unwitting help from Dr. Seuss.

SC wants to require some food stamp recipients to look for jobs
imageAfter a public flirtation with requiring food stamps be used only to buy healthier foods, Gov. Nikki Haley's administration has decided to take a different course and require more food-stamp recipients find a job.

Cry Havoc (Racism) and Let Slip the Dogs of War
imageWhen seven Democratic senators voted with all of the Republicans to reject Debo Adegbile's nomination to serve as head of the Justice Department's civil rights division, Harry Reid cried racism. It's as if Reid was on autopilot, and the aide who usually touches his elbow to correct him wasn't available. If the aide had been there, he would have whispered, "Um, Senator, you're accusing your own side of racism."

What you post online can become a problem
imageA warning to people who post comments online: Anonymous is not forever. A Philadelphia judge has ordered the owners of Philly.com -- who also own The Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News -- to disclose the identity of a person who posted a comment online.

Jail for the bullets in your magazine
imageLeonard Fyock is quick to tell you he's no outlaw -- even when he believes the law is flawed. "I've lived here in Sunnyvale for more than 40 years and I've never had so much as a parking ticket," the 67-year-old said.

Journalists Hide Real Numbers When Reporting Budget Spin
imageThe standard media coverage of President Barack Obama's new budget claimed the proposals included $600 billion of budget cuts over the next decade. It was just about impossible, though, to find any media story mentioning some basic numbers that belong in any story about a new federal budget.

California flooded with concealed carry applications
imageLaw enforcement agencies throughout California have been flooded with concealed weapon applications in recent weeks, in the wake of a federal court ruling that loosens the restrictions on citizens' ability to carry a concealed handgun in public.

No Political Fix to America's Death Spiral
imageThe question is not, “Is America falling?” but, rather, “Why is America falling?” I’m currently writing from CPAC 2014, the nation’s largest gathering of conservative political junkies. The event is being held at the beautiful Gaylord National hotel, adjacent to the scenic shoreline of the historic Potomac River. We’re just a few short miles from Washington, D.C., which, at least for now, remains the modern-day equivalent of the Roman Empire.
