 Check it out:    The federal government will recognize the marriages of same-sex couples performed in Utah during a brief period in which same-sex marriages were allowed, Attorney General Eric Holder announced Friday.      “I am confirming today that, for purposes of federal law, these marriages will be recognized as lawful and considered eligible for all relevant federal benefits on the same terms as other same-sex marriages,” Holder said in a video statement.      On Dec. 20, federal District Judge Robert Shelby struck down Utah’s ban on same-sex marriages. Monday, the Supreme Court halted new same-sex marriages pending Utah’s appeal of Shelby’s decision. I have been a Republican since the 1960 presidential race, walking precincts for Richard Nixon.  Over the years I have worked as a volunteer and as a professional on dozens of races, all Republicans.  Active in many Republican and conservative causes, always as a volunteer.  Now, the Republican Party has elected officials that were the key votes to pass tax increases in Sacramento, increase the national debt in Washington.  There is discussion now by GOP leaders in Sacramento and Washington to give benefits and even in the long term, amnesty, for illegal aliens.  Any wonder Republicans register as Decline to State?      For Democrats, unless you give the unions everything they want, even to the point of killing jobs and cities, you will be ostracized from the Party.  Unless you want to steal from the productive with higher taxes, want to close businesses based on the global warming hoax, you will not have a place in the Democrat Party.  Think of Gov. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania—a pro-life Democrat.  He was not allowed to speak at a Democrat National Convention because he wanted babies protected.  Now you know why Democrats are registering as Decline to State.      “Forty-two percent of Americans, on average, identified as political independents last year, the highest polling firm Gallup Inc. has measured since it began conducting interviews by telephone 25 years ago.      Meanwhile, Republican identification fell to 25 percent, the lowest over that time span. At 31 percent, Democratic identification is unchanged from the last four years but down from 36 percent in 2008.”
