1. Virginia
Ken Cuccinelli is a friend and I am sorry he lost.
In 2009,
the Republican National Committee spent $9 million to win Virginia by a
big margin. For the past 48 hours, the party bosses have been screaming
to everyone about how much money they poured in this time in Virginia.
We’ve had a few diarists at RedState document it and suck it up as
gospel truth that the RNC did all it could this time.
The
RNC spent $9 million in 2009 to win and spent $3 million this time,
pulling money out of Virginia, to lose by a hair. The RNC truly screwed
up in Virginia this time and no amount of spinning can distract from
that screw up. It was Election Day itself when someone finally noticed
the 3rd party candidate, Sarvis, had been funded by a major Obama donor.
Election Day the GOP finally notices this!
Cuccinelli
had all the insiders aligned against him. He was the outsider. The gays
hated him, the Chamber of Commerce hated him, the kid killers hated
him, the GOP establishment hated him — all the insiders hated Cuccinelli
and his campaign made the strategic blunder to try to work their way
inside instead of dancing with the folks who got him to the dance. The
campaign manager was fired too late and the campaign fell behind by
double digits. Compounding that, the Democrats massively outspent him,
Governor McDonnell is involved in a scandal, and the GOP voted to raise
taxes with Cuccinelli struggling to distance himself from both.
The
Obama Machine took advantage of all of this and went into high gear.
They intended to deliver the state for McAuliffe decisively.

2. PURITY! They Were Never Part of the Coalition Anyway
Jimmy
LaSalvia of or formerly of GOProud is on Facebook letting everyone know
Ken Cuccinelli is the 2013 equivalent of David Duke.
Because
two dudes not being able to buy a china pattern together is the same as
not being able to vote, being forced to use separate bathrooms, and
being attacked by fire hoses and dogs in the streets.
His GOProud partner, Chris Barron went on twitter to declare he voted in Virginia for the Democrat, Terry McAuliffe.

3. The GOP Declares War On Obamacare Conservatives
Since the
this summer a low level civil war has been simmering within the GOP
between conservatives who have grown tired of the lack of desire on the
part of the Establishment to resist the radical statism that has
epitomized the regime of Barack Obama and the Establishment that seems
more than happy to go along with Obama so long as they are kept in
champagne and caviar. Many solid conservatives have insisted that the
division is overblown and that a big tent is necessary to win elections.
To
anyone remaining that thinks a reasonable accommodation may be made
with the GOP Establishment, today’s op-ed by Michael Gerson (The GOP’s
new reality) should serve as a wake up call. In fact, it is apparent
from Gerson’s op-ed that the Establishment views conservatives, not the

4. NRSC to Target Mitch McConnell
The NRSC announced today that it will be spending money to defeat Mitch McConnell in the Kentucky primary.

5. Saving Premature Babies: When Doctors Take the Place of God
Over
time we have become a nation of subjects, not citizens fully engaged in
our own governance. I say this not as a rhetorical device but to point
out the enormous areas of our life where we have ceded sovereignty over
ourselves not only to elected officials… a necessary evil in any
developed society… but to a wide variety of unelected experts.
Perhaps
nowhere in our lives is this more the case than in our medical care.
Bureaucrats in your insurance company may not pay for certain treatments
because you just aren’t that valuable of a customer. Bureaucrats in the
FDA may not allow you to have access to a developmental drug for your
fatal ailment because the treatment hasn’t been proven safe — losing
sight of the point that safety is the least of your concerns. We have
accepted these incursions into our lives because we have been sure that
in most cases your doctor would approach your care with a bias towards
saving your life, not minimizing his workload.
