1.  Welcome to the Harry and Barry Shutdown Show
What a difference a sense of conviction and the presence of a Republican backbone brings to a debate in Washington.  Democrats are beginning to slowly grovel back to the negotiation table, barely able to contain their show of bravado.  We are now having a national discussion about Obamacare, something that would have never happened had we not chosen to fight on the budget bill. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

2.  Democrats’s Shutdown Is Refusal To Face The American People
We’ve heard stories of Democrats attempting to “shutdown” privately owned historical sites like Mount Vernon and many other privately funded and run parks. They want the shutdown for use as a weapon, to “hurt and rescue” the American people. Case in point . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  Next time, Democrats will take your doctor hostage
Every true “independent” voter in the United States should be clamoring for the full and immediate repeal of ObamaCare after watching a few days of Barack Obama’s Shutdown Theater.  Do you really think the man who vandalized the World War II Memorial with barricades to make elderly veterans suffer will hesitate a microsecond to use your health care as leverage against you, the next time you defy his commands?  You’re not “independent” in any meaningful sense whatsoever if you’re comfortable with what’s going on here. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  General Motors 2: The Strengthening of the Strength is Strong & Stuff
Regular Red State readers know how much fun I’ve had covering the auto industry in recent years. From Obama’s push for newer, tougher CAFE standards on a struggling industry to GM’s crony CEO Dan Akerson. From the Chevy Volt’s fits and starts to GM blowing tax dollars on bonuses, marketing schemes, and ideologically-driven “green” projects.  I even had the honor of  being attacked by Attack Waaaaaaaaaatch probably because I wrote about GM’s special tax gift, as well as the fact that I’ve been caught parodying GM ads and clips.  To put it mildly, it’s an issue I’ve followed closely.

It would all be funnier if none of it was true. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

5.  Share Obamacare With Congress
I have written several times my thinking on the Vitter Amendment. Congress will find a way around it. Word now comes that Speaker Boehner, behind the scenes, was trying to find a way to make sure, on the sly, that Congress remains exempt.

I think it is important that Congress make sure we know we expect them to suffer through Obamacare with it. To that end, along with Human Events, you can sign this petition to make it clear you agree. . . . please click here for the rest of the post
