FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL 10/17/2013

Dear Conservatives,
It's all part of a concerted effort by the Obama administration to remove any obstacles that fundamentally oppose the radical plan to make America a godless nation.
Unfortunately, most Americans are not aware of the religious persecution that is occurring in the military almost on a daily basis.
Let me share just a few recent examples:
  • The Army labeled evangelical Christians and Catholics as extremists along with al-Qaeda, Hamas, and the KKK.
  • The Pentagon put an end to military-themed Bibles.
  • A West Point study linked pro-life groups to terrorism.
  • The U.S. military ordered crosses removed from chapels.
  • An Air Force officer was ordered to take his Bible off his desk.
  • A soldier was reprimanded for serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at a private party celebrating his promotion and the Defense of Marriage Act.
  • A painting including a Bible verse was removed from an Air Force dining hall.
President Obama "strongly objects" to language in the House National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which protects the right of service members to freely practice their religious beliefs as long as it does not interfere with the good order and discipline necessary for an effective military.
These confirmed attacks on religious liberty in the U.S. military are not isolated instances. They are just the tip of the iceberg.
The Obama administration hopes its war on religious freedom in the military -- against Christianity in particular -- will continue under the radar until the last vestiges of real religious freedom are scrubbed from America's armed services forever.
With your help, FRC will not only expose this dangerous agenda to the light of day but we will defeat it!
I am convinced that once the American people realize what's going on, there will be a public outcry against what can only be described as an all-out war effort to stifle the U.S. military of Christianity and Judeo-Christian morals.
Every day there seems to be a new attack on religious liberty within the military. A 19-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force was relieved of his post and severely reprimanded by his lesbian commander because he didn't believe a subordinate's opposition to same-sex "marriage" constituted discrimination. I just learned that after he appealed and exposed this outrage, he is now being threatened with court martial.
Because service members like this Air Force sergeant are often forced into silence for fear of career-ending retribution, the public almost never hears of their plight.
But that's all about to change.
In addition to forming a coalition of like-minded organizations willing to take a concerted stand on this issue, FRC is also working to ...
Pressure the media to fairly and accurately report on the threats to religious freedom in the military.
Support key leaders in Congress willing to take legislative action to stop this blatant assault on the constitutional rights of our servicemen and servicewomen.
Develop legal strategies and file briefs against anti-religion factions, both within and outside the military, who want to subvert the Constitution in order to scrub the armed services of constitutional religious expression.
But to do this, we will need your help. Most Americans, and I'm sure you are one of them, respect and honor those who serve our nation in uniform. Now is your opportunity to show America's servicemen and women just how much you support them.
Here's what you can do:
First, pray fervently for those serving in our armed forces whose careers are in jeopardy due to religious persecution.
Second, send a generous donation to FRC. With the full weight of the Obama administration opposing the religious liberty amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, FRC is in great need of emergency funds to mount a nationwide advertising and public relations campaign to make sure that this essential language remains part of the final bill.
Without your help, the religious persecution within the U.S. military will not only continue but it will escalate. We simply must defend, at all costs, the religious liberty of those who serve our country so faithfully. FRC is prepared to go the distance. Will you join us?
Standing (Ephesians 6:13),

Tony Perkins
President
