Another (having been on the advertising/corporate sides) is for "alligned"
companies to "buy" advertising slots/packages, thus subsidizing those
stations/channels, (and be paid-back later, allegedly by viewers buying
those products, though also by the "money-influencers" in charge. You all can
certainly think of a number of companies like that. One thing heard often is
"How the heck can msnbc stay in businees with its miniscule "audience?"(and
likely inflated at that).
