SERMON - WHY A NEW GOSPEL THAT IS FALSE?

Why a New Gospel
That is False?

Many Pastors and Ministers continue preaching a gospel that is not of the Lord. God has told us His Good News and has instructed all Christians to spread the Word. Sadly there are many that continue to preach what is actually a gospel of convenience; a gospel that is designed to keep the audience returning simply to continue to collect the tithes they offer.

In my lifetime I have witnessed many Pastors and Ministers bend their messages so as not to offend the sinners amongst their gatherings. They refuse to address the absolute need of repentance and continue to allow those that live in sin with no intentions of turning away from those sins to mingle with their flocks.

This is wrong!

1 Corinthians 5: 9I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people …

and 5: 11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

You may think that this is being strict and straight-laced but I say this, these are the Words the Lord placed in Paul’s mind to set forth in God’s Word and not my imaginations.

2 Corinthians 12: 21I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.

The absolute need of repentance from, “impurity, sexual sin and debauchery,” is clearly stated and again as God’s Word.

A look and reading of the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 23 allows us to learn that this belief is not anything new and just arising to men’s consciousness but is an age old problem and sin. To even hint at saying this problem is, “just coming to light,” not only untruthful but an outright falsehood.

As is set forth in Jeremiah 23, God states that even in Biblical days there were men preaching, claiming to be prophets, as they said:

Jeremiah 23:  17…And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, 'No harm will come to you.'

God, in His wisdom, makes clear His condemnation of such teachings and so-called prophesies. The “harm” that may befall any that deny Him would be terrible.

Jeremiah 23: 25 "I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?

There is but one God, One Author and One Truth. Do not allow yourself to be taken in by these charlatans and expose yourself to eternal damnation! God hates sin, hates lies and has given His Son to pave the way for our salvation

Jeremiah 23: 30 "Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.

God tells us that He is, “against,” any that speak falsely as they claim their words are from God as revealed to themselves.

Jeremiah 23: 34 If a prophet or a priest or anyone else claims, 'This is the oracle of the LORD,' I will punish that man and his household.

God is not the author of confusion and makes no concessions for those who seek to deceive others to gain either riches or notoriety for themselves. Men and women that set themselves as ordained messengers of God have the burden of any they lead astray through deceit and downright false teaching.

There are religious Denominations that are beginning to suffer schism due to such lies being furthered by their hierarchy. These events are being regularly reported on by the media. It is almost reported with glee that some Bishops have gone so far as to claim to have the authority to, “Improve on the Bible as it requires updating.”

God not only has stated His condemnation of such false prophets in the afterlife but intends to make known their transgressions here on earth for all to see.

Jeremiah 23: 39 Therefore, I will surely forget you and cast you out of my presence along with the city I gave to you and your fathers. 40 I will bring upon you everlasting disgrace—everlasting shame that will not be forgotten."

I am telling you these things as due to distance and lack of knowledge of the personal lives of many of you I do not know where you may be congregating with other Christians and under whose tutelage you may be learning God’s Word. It is my desire to teach you of God’s Word and His Word alone. I have no desire to impress upon you any false teachings as my sole desire is to lead your souls to Christ and to further His Kingdom.

Brothers and sisters we all reach a time in our lives when everything we witness seems to be boding evil. Our businesses that we trusted with our money either failed or were found to be shell games. The employers we relied upon for continued employment either were victimized by unscrupulous management or defrauded by incompetent leaders. Even the government that supposedly represents us is reflective of a runaway train bent on spending money yet to be generated by our earning. The futures of our children are being called to question by foolishness on the part of those elected to protect us.

If you really think about this you see that by preaching false prophesies and downright untruths we are being ‘led down the road’ by those charged with looking after the spiritual well being of us all. In listening to the false gospel of convenience we are not following God’s will and are thereby showing total disdain for the Word of God.

I urge each and every one of you to search his/her soul and make a decision to speak out against any person that makes a claim to have the right to twist God’s Word for their aggrandizement or personal gain. I ask that each of you stand up for our God and do His bidding. I realize that when times of trouble are upon us, we are to turn our problems over to God. I also realize that He expects His children to spread His Good News and by allowing the gospel of convenience to go unchallenged we are not doing His bidding!

Deuteronomy 13: The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

God is the same today as He was then and ever shall be…Obey Him not any man or anyone speaking against God’s truths.

(Closing prayer)

Abba, Almighty God, please hear our prayer. Lord of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob we pray
to You and You alone. You are our Father, our Hope and our Redeemer. There is no God save You. You are our everything and we praise You. You alone are worthy of our love and our worship.

Lord we see others that claim to be speaking for You and prophesying in Your name. Please help us to discern the truths and wisdom of Your Words and disregard those of deceivers. Strengthen us O Lord and have the Holy Spirit put the words in our mouths to represent You in all truthfulness and with the respect You alone deserve. May we be seen as passing any test set forth by You and be ever obedient to You Word.

Lord, please send Your angels to watch over our man and women serving this nation in truth and keep them safe. Watch over and guide our elected officials, judges, police and those charged with seeing to the safety of us all. You alone have that power and we implore You to see us safe. We also ask that You protect our brothers and sisters in lands far from our shores and see to their well being; both physically and spiritually.

We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen.
