OK, here are the details for the Candidate 101 Workshop I’ll be conducting in Carson City, Nevada on Monday night, September 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm (you’ll have to DVR the Monday Night Football game!).
This particular workshop will be geared primarily towards candidates and prospective candidates, but anyone with even a passing interest in politics as a campaign volunteer, campaign manager, party leader or grassroots activist will find this extremely beneficial.
Indeed, let’s say you’re a member of a Republican women’s club but don’t intend to be a candidate yourself. Still, after attending this workshop, you’ll know EXACTLY the right questions to ask when a candidate comes to your club looking for support in order to know if they’ve got their sh--…um, stuff together.
This workshop has nothing to do with a candidate’s position on issues, party affiliation or philosophical beliefs. It’s all about the nuts-and-bolts of putting together a winning campaign and campaigning like a winning candidate.

REPUBLICANS OF THE NORTH UNITE…OR NOT
Lest ye believe it’s only Clark County Republicans who are in a civil war with each other, consider the following letter of resignation sent today to the leadership of the Washoe County Republican Party:

Madam Secretary,
I am resigning my position as a member of the Washoe County Republican Central Committee, and am changing my voter registration from Republican to Independent American Party.
I want to share my reasons for doing this, and I encourage you to provide copies to all of the Executive Board members.
Having taken a role in the past election cycle to uplift all of our Republican candidates as the Voter Registration Chairman, Executive Board Member, and participating to the fullest in all of the caucuses, County and State Conventions placed me in an unusual position to see the inner working of the party; top to bottom.
I am finding that the Republican Party is focused more on personal gains than finding, recruiting, and supporting existing or new candidates. The internal fighting within the Party is disgusting and destructive. I personally observed and participated in the intensive work that went into developing a solid Party Platform with good debate before acceptance at the County/State Conventions. I am hard pressed to find only a very few elected Republicans willing to stand firmly on those planks. This is not to say that we do not have some very good people elected to office, but it is to say they are not principled enough to fight tax increases, take a protective stand on our Constitutional rights, and provide the wall needed to climb to protect our God-given rights. The Republican Party at all levels has a lot of concerned citizens who want to make a difference, but finding the responsible leaders for these patriotic citizens to follow seems to be so personally-internally driven that those who are looking to help are still looking for a hero. Socialism and the Republican Party are holding-hands. Any gridlock is there because it is allowed to be that way.
I have been betrayed by the Republican Leadership on many occasions when I believed that the actions being taken would take us in the right direction, but it has only been the Pinocchio-effect when they have tried to explain what failed. Leadership is all about responsibility, accountability, and authority that moves people toward a common goal. There is a tremendous amount of lip service, but very little action. Since the Washoe County Republican Party is an all-volunteer organization it would do well to take seriously how to treat those deeply caring volunteers.
I have reached the limits of my tolerance… I am done, and will be joining a principled group who will stand behind their word, and actually – really – pursue the promise of the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

This on the same day the Independent American Party sent out the following press release:
At 9:00 AM Wednesday Morning, August 14th, at the Washoe County office of the Registrar of Voters, 18 members of the Republican Party reregistered as members of the Independent American Party. Most of them are former Republicans who were members of the Washoe County Central Committee.
The Independent American Party of Clark County also added former members of the Republican Party after “the bloodletting” meeting of the Clark County Central Committee meeting in July 2013.
As more people become dissatisfied with the twin parties, the IAP welcomes them to be Independent American Party members. Chairman John Wagner says “join now and beat the rush”.
And the battle for the soul of the Republican Party marches on!
