Wendy Davis: Pro-Life Women “Don’t Really Understand” Abortion
Wendy Davis stuck her foot in her mouth today in an interview with a reporter from the Weekly Standard following her press conference today, during which she called abortion “sacred ground” and said she is contemplating running for governor.
Davis spoke with John McCormack of the Weekly Standard after the speech and press conference. During the interview she said women who support banning late-term abortions don’t understand the issue of abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/wendy-davis-pro-life-women-dont-really-understand-abortion/
I Survived an Abortion, Now I’m Talking to My Mother For the First Time
Prayers are answered and the time and manner in which they are, undoubtedly, are not always what we want or expect, as I talked about recently in the article about the closing of the abortion clinic where Abby Johnson worked.

I have lived with peace about my life and the reality that I may never hear from my birthmother, that I may never know if she knows that I love her and that I have forgiven her for the decision by those around her that was made to end my life through an abortion. I have continued to pray for God’s will to be done and trusted in His plans for us, but I’ll be honest. Deep down, I never believed that I would have any contact with my birthmother. And then the unexpected happened…http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/i-survived-an-abortion-now-im-talking-to-my-mother-for-the-first-time/

Peter Singer: Apes Should Have Similiar Rights as Humans, But Not Unborn Babies
Here we go again–Peter Singer pushing the Great Ape Project that seeks to give rights to apes. Now, the controversy is featured in The World.
From, “Should Apes Have Legal Rights:” It’s virtually impossible to prove whether apes are conscious, since neuroscientists still can’t agree on how to define consciousness, or how it arises in the human brain. But advocates for ape rights say the fundamental question is not scientific, but moral. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/peter-singer-apes-should-have-similiar-rights-as-humans-but-not-unborn-babies/
Majority of Women Disagree with Wendy Davis on Backing Late-Term Abortions
Today, pro-abortion activist state senator Wendy Davis (D-TX) will speak at the National Press Club. Prior to the event, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), pointed to recent polling showing that a majority of women support the legislation Davis became famous opposing.
SBA List suggested three questions for reporters to ask Davis during the Q&A. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/majority-of-women-disagree-with-wendy-davis-on-backing-late-term-abortions/
“Pro-Choicers” Hide From the Word Abortion, Remind Them It’s Killing a Baby
Many pro-aborts strain to avoid the word “abortion” like the plague, substituting in euphemisms like “choice,” “women’s health,” “reproductive freedom,” “bodily autonomy,” “family planning,” etc. When your PR efforts operate on the premise that you shouldn’t use your product’s name, it might be time to rethink what you’re selling.
Even so, “abortion” is just abstract and clinical-sounding enough to make it seem palatable to a significant portion of the public. Well, “abort” means end something, and ending a pregnancy doesn’t sound so bad…pregnancies are tough, so of course somebody should be able to end hers if she wants. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/pro-choicers-hide-from-the-word-abortion-remind-them-its-killing-a-baby/

Banning Late-Term Abortions A Great Way to Unite the Republican Party
In a poll done by Gallup earlier this year, the biggest complaint lodged against the Republican Party was “inability to compromise.”. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/banning-late-term-abortions-a-great-way-to-unite-the-republican-party/
As Detroit Declares Bankruptcy, Its Abortion Rate Almost Twice National Average
A recurring image in stories about Detroit’s bankruptcy is darkness, loss of light: 40 percent of the city’s streetlights do not work. It’s a terribly magnificent metaphor for the loss of life the city has seen. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/as-detroit-declares-bankruptcy-its-abortion-rate-almost-twice-national-average/

Victims of Eugenics Program in North Carolina Finally Receive Compensation
Despite signals earlier this year that the State of North Carolina would once again not include planned compensation for the victims of the state’s infamous eugenics programs in the state’s budget, it seems that those who suffered forcible or coerced sterilization at the hands of the state will see some restitution after all as North Carolina is set to become the first state to provide compensation to victims of a government eugenics program. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/05/victims-of-eugenics-program-in-north-carolina-finally-receive-compensation/
