For the first time since 2003, New Jersey's second senate seat is occupied by a Republican — serving as a temporary appointee until a special election can be held. Determined to reclaim the seat and protect the Democrat's 6 seat margin of control, Cory Booker, current mayor of Newark and hollywood-ized liberal, wants a ticket to Washington. Booker's already known for the limelight — hobnobbing with movie stars and hosting visits from the British prime minister and the Dalai Lama. Despite the applause he's received for the attention he brokered for Newark, Mayor Booker is getting bad press for attempting to abandon his city before even finishing his second term.
Since Booker assumed office in 2006, the violent crime rate in Newark has crept up to over 200% of the New Jersey averag. AND things are not looking up as the city is slated to raise certain public service rates on the entire city by 60% within just a few years.
The day after his announcement to run, Booker started making fundraising trips to California. He is ready to abandon Newark after only starting to bring attention to the city's problems with the title poorest city in New Jersey with a poverty rate 3 times hight than the state average.
With this chance to keep one of the core liberal seats in the senate, I can't begin to tell you how important you and your involvement as the tea party is to this election.
At a time when Obama and the Democrat are spinning our government out of control, donating to help the Tea Party Leadership Fund in this special election represents one of the American people's best chances to send a strong message - and conservative — to Washington rather than another elitist, liberal politician.
This is truly a special election.
But I don't want to put just another Republican in the Senate, I'm driven to make sure we put a real Tea Party Hero in that seat for good — think Rand Paul and Ted Cruz!
Enter Steve Lonegan, Steve served as mayor of Bogota, and rather than hanging with the stars, he worked to cut government spending and oppose tax increases. As the author of Putting Taxpayers First, Steve outlines a blueprint for conservative victory in the Garden State. Steve Lonegan is a man of character content to serve constituents. He is the man with a real plan.
In contrast, the Huffington Post asks, "Will [Cory Booker's] successor be able to sustain the attention and money that has flowed into this city based largely on Booker's outsized personality?"
In a race of personality v.s. values, big city glamor v.s. all-American town it's an easy choice, but with big money and power on the line the fight won't be easy.
Which one of these men will jump in bed with the Obama administration? Outsized personality is outdated and with your donation of $20, $50, $100 or more, we can get behind Steve and push him over the top.
