NEVADA - ASSEMBLYWOMAN MICHELE FIORE NEWSLETTER 03/20/2013

Friends,

Monday night was a major deadline in Carson City. By the end of the day, all bills (except those sponsored by a committee) had to be introduced on the floor to proceed through the legislative process. In our limited 120 days, it's important to keep moving forward! If you're interested in the upcoming deadlines, including the deadline for bills to be passed through the committee of the first house, they're on the right side of my emails, or you canclick here to view the 120 day calendar.

As more and more information comes before us in Carson City, I feel like so many of our bills and presentations by departments present a problem and a new tax to fix the problem. When I ran for this office, I made a promise to you, the taxpayers in Assembly District 4, that I would be your voice and ask hard questions about how our tax dollars are being spent. You told me that we need to do more with less and that our representatives in Carson City need to get creative.

There are some great ideas on the table to cut government waste so we can get our tax dollars where they are most needed. We're talking about smart reforms to prevailing wage that will bring the construction rates for taxpayers back to competitive with the rates paid by the private sector. There are ideas for streamlining business. We need to remove the hurdles that are costing our entrepreneurs and investors when they move their well paying jobs to Nevada or when our neighbors want to start new ventures.

What are your ideas for how we can do better?

I'm dedicated to changing this conversation, and I want your ideas. I want to make sure we're turning over every stone, looking for ways to save money and provide better services. If you have any ideas, please share them. I am your voice in Carson City, and all of our representatives need to hear our common sense ideas to save money.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Yours truly,
Michele Fiore
