I'm sure you remember Barack Obama's campaign promises. Hope and change. A new era of transparency. An end to special interests.
None of that applied to the Big Labor hierarchy Obama wrote about so favorably in his book The Audacity of Hope.
After the union bosses unleashed more than a Billion Dollars -- backed with forced dues from unwilling workers -- getting Obama and other forced unionism partisans elected in 2008, did he ever return the favor.
In my recent column in the Washington Times, I outline some of the most egregious paybacks and sweetheart deals by the Obama Administration that favor Big Labor:
Mr. Obama's first budget even cut funds for the federal agency that enforces union disclosure laws and investigates union corruption.
That was just the beginning. Mr. Obama then appointed Service Employees International Union (SEIU) attorney Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board, the federal agency that administers and enforces federal labor law. Mr. Becker, who was never confirmed because of bipartisan opposition, nevertheless was recess-appointed to the board. His was a key vote in striking down protections accorded workers against card-check union-organizing drives despite the fact that he previously had participated as a union lawyer in the very case that established those worker protections.

And now the union bosses are once against betting big on Barack Obama -- and our offices have been flooded with calls from independent-minded workers who don't want to support Big Labor's radical political agenda.
Workers just like Dylan McHenry, a Ford technician in Minnesota who found out that Teamster Local 974 union officials funneled some of his forced fees into the Teamster hierarchy's political action committee –- a clear violation of federal law.
