POLITICAL DIGEST 06/16/2012 CONSERVATIVE

I post articles because I think they are of interest. Doing so doesn’t mean that I necessarily agree (or disagree) with every—or any—opinion in the posted article. Help your friends and relatives stay informed by passing the digest on. In some cases I post things sent to me by readers I might not have posted on my own, to get ideas circulating.

Puff piece but worth reading: How Obama became black
Excerpt: He was too dark in Indonesia. A hapa child — half and half — in Hawaii. Multicultural in Los Angeles. An “Invisible Man” in New York. And finally, Barack Obama was black on the South Side of Chicago. (Comment scheduled for my next “Random Thoughts” piece: Democrats and the liberal media think Obama is at a disadvantage due to racism, because he identifies as “black.” (Fair enough, half black is better than Elizabeth Warren claiming benefits as a “person of color” on the basis of family lore that she was 1/32nd native American.) I think he’s at a disadvantage because he’s black, but not for the reasons they think. The liberal elites are so desperate to prove how non-racist they are, that when a black person comes along who, in their words, is “clean and articulate” (Joe Biden) plus “light skinned and doesn’t talk with a Negro accent” (Harry Reid), they push him untested by reality to the front of the line. He gets a trophy for showing up. He gets to become rich writing self-indulgent auto-biographies at a young age. He gets to think that community organizing and voting present in the state senate makes him part of “the real world.” He gets to believe that having the Chicago Machine push him upwards in return for keeping silent (at the least) about corruption and using, then discarding, terrorists and racist ministers to advance his career makes him a smart politician. He goes to the head of the class without real criticism, without real accomplishment and without real testing—or vetting. Having had heaps of unearned self-esteem piled on him due to his color, he can’t understand why his ideas and policies might not deliver in the real “real world.” He is as confused as they to find out that he’s not “The One,” because they always assured him he was so special. Marines are successful in combat because they have been tested in the fire of boot camp. Unlike most people who come to the presidency, Obama was never tested in a political boot came, because the liberals, as they do in the universities, pass blacks without tough testing that others face. This is the worst kind of racism, and a great disservice to black Americans. Obama is only the most prominent current victim. It takes a person of Dr. Thomas Sowell’s character to refuse un-earned, color-based rewards. Obama doesn’t have it—few do. ~Bob.)Harvard ‘racism’ researcher neglected to disclose White House ties
Excerpt: The Harvard researcher behind a recent study correlating 2008 election results with racially charged Google searches neglected to disclose ties to a former senior member of the Obama administration, The Daily Caller has learned.

Michael Ledeen is a terrific commentator and policy analyst whose work I link to in my Old Jarhead blog from time to time. Thus when I recently stumbled across this book, I grabbed it. It was written at the end of the Clinton era, so the “current examples” are a few years old, but cover lots of depredations worth remembering. If you haven’t read Machiavelli’s The Prince, you should do so for its own sake, as well as to better understand this fine book on leadership in the real world. I first read The Prince in 1970 or 71 when it was assigned in a government class on Modern Political Thought at U-Mass by a brilliant political science professor from Pakistan. He asked, “What qualities does Machiavelli recommend a prince have, that you wouldn’t want in a US President?” Then as each of the starry-eyed U-Mass students put forth objections, he eviscerated them. Lovely stuff. This would have been of great value for leaders to read in the run-up to the 2008 fiscal crisis. Ledeen quotes Allan H. Meltzer’s “Moral Hazard Goes Global”: “Where [there are] guarantees that some or all of an institution’s losses will be shifted to taxpayers…while gains will be kept by the institution’s owners, the institution will be led to take excessive risks.” Boy, did we pay for not understanding that, from Fannie Mae where Jim Johnson and Frank Raines got rich off our wallets to the too-big-to-fail Wall Street banks that we bailed out. This is well worth reading.

The top three reasons Eric Holder should be held in contempt. By Rep. Paul Gosar
Excerpt: On June 20, the House Oversight Committee will meet to decide whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.

“Fast and Furious” Comment post on my blog
Under Bush, “Wide Receiver” was tried and when the Mexican authorities lost track of the guns the program was cancelled. “Fast and Furious” was an Obama administration plan to prove that the US was supplying guns to the cartels so the could reinstate the failed 1994 AWB and even tighter controls. CBP agent Brian Terry, ICE agent Jamie Zapata and over 299 Mexican citizens are dead so this criminal administration could try to advance their gun control agenda. This is what Obama meant when he told Sarah Brady they were working on gun control "under the radar." -- Robert Fowler

Afghan cop: Marine killings were ‘God’s will’
Excerpt: An Afghan police officer accused of killing two Marines and wounding four others during an attack last year in Helmand province told investigators he was motivated by “God’s will,” according to a report outlining the incident. (“God’s will,” but remember, terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. Close your eyes and repeat as necessary. ~Bob.)

Qatar: Migrant workers subjected to forced labor amid construction boom for 2022 World Cup
Excerpt: Slavery is taken for granted in the Qur'an (see 2:178, 2:221, 4:92, 5:89, and many more), so this should come as no surprise.

Man jailed in modern, moderate Indonesia for insulting Muhammad
Excerpt: These are the kinds of laws that Islamic supremacists want to bring West. …
An Indonesian man arrested after writing "God doesn't exist" on his Facebook page was jailed for 30 months Thursday for sharing explicit material about the Prophet Mohammed online.

Gulf: Clampdown on sorcerers and witchcraft
Excerpt: In the shadow of the enormous skyscrapers in Dubai, symbols of modernity and innovation, old superstitions and black magic are still popular in the Emirate's intricate multicultural social web. At least according to the amount of ''material for witchcraft'' impounded by the border police: 92 cases in one year. Witchcraft is punishable with imprisonment in the United Arab Emirates, but in other Gulf states, like Saudi Arabia, culprits can even get the death penalty. (Yes, Christians used to persecute people as witches, but we got over it a few hundred years ago. ~Bob.)

Arizona's battle-tested conservative is Jeff Flake
First TV political ad in his Senate run. Impressive guy when I met him in Chicago. ~Bob.

Obama dines and dashes on Father's Day lunch
Excerpt: President Obama forgot one important thing during his Father's Day lunch at a Washington, D.C. barbecue restaurant Wednesday: to settle the bill. The president made a surprise stop at Kenny's BBQ Smokehouse in Northeast Washington Wednesday, chowing down on ribs, collard greens, black-eyed peas and rice with a pair of military fathers and local barbers. But the White House apparently forgot to cover the tab before taking off, skipping on a $55.58 bill, according to ABC News. (Well, to be fair, he's used to us picking up the tab for his family. ~Bob.)

Trans-Pacific Partnership: Larger than NAFTA? Leaked documents reveal disturbing truths about a trade deal Obama's negotiating that could grow bigger than NAFTA. By Josh Eidelson
Lefties are against free trade--unless their is cash involved for them, of course. ~Bob. Excerpt: President Obama campaigned in 2008 as a strong pro-labor candidate, and this year he will again. But for union activists who’ll be working hard for his reelection, a newly leaked document represents yet another bitter disappointment. ... “This is what happens when you get an administration that is pretty much in the lap of corporate America,” said Chris Townsend, the political action director for the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America and a longtime Obama critic. “That’s who they perform for, and that’s who most of them will go to work for after they lose the election in November.”

Survey Findings: Physician Attitudes on the Affordable Care Act
Excerpt: Despite the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) intention to reduce the cost of healthcare and provide coverage for the uninsured, only 31 percent of physicians grade the health law an "A" or "B" at its two-year mark. Sixty-eight percent grade the ACA a "C," "D" or "F". The mean average grade the ACA received by survey respondents was a "D". ("D"? Wish I had easy graders like that in high school! ~Bob.)

Doctors’ Attitudes On The Future Of Medicine: What’s Wrong, Who’s to Blame, and What Will Fix It
Almost unanimous that medicine is on the wrong track, and overwhelmingly blame the government; Government-imposed solutions (PPACA, electronic health information) destined to fail; Highest numbers ever opting out of Medicare or refuse Medicaid;...

Oops: USA Today Photographer Accidentally Captures Secret Obama SuperPAC Plans on Whiteboard
Democrat political leaks are getting out of hand! ~Bob

Obama Campaign Spams Reporters
Excerpt: Twenty-five emails in the two-and-a-half hours after Obama's economic speech in Cleveland as Democrats line up behind the president. (Desperate? ~Bob.)

‘Superfires’ direct result of overregulation
Excerpt: Beginning in the late 1960s, a new attitude started to pervade our state and national forest-management practices. Fire, long the key tool in maintaining healthy forests, started to become a bad word in the environmental world.

Excerpt: Barack Obama appears to have personally benefited from funds originating in Saddam Hussein's regime. It's a complicated connection, but one that deserves the consideration of Americans voters. Two similar figures, Nadhmi Auchi and Antoin S. "Tony" Rezko, served as the intermediaries. Both are Middle Eastern males of Catholic Christian heritage who left Baathist dictatorships for Western cities (Auchi from Iraq to London, Rezko from Syria to Chicago). (Hard to believe, but after the last four years, I don't know what to believe. ~Bob.)

Obama takes friendly fire from House Dem
Excerpt: President Obama's big economic speech in Cleveland failed to impress one endangered House Democrat, Rep. Mark Critz (D-Pa.), who took him to task for his economic and energy policies. “President Obama and others in Washington need to realize that we cannot spend our way to prosperity...

Parents who sent kids to progressive ‘no books, no tests’ school founded by cerulean theater troupe shocked kids not learning to read. By Doug Powers
Excerpt: The $32,000 per-year progressive school founded by the Blue Man Group has come under scrutiny by parents, who claim their kids are barely learning to read, the New York Post reports. (Yes, but their self-esteem is through the roof, everybody got a trophy, and they value all cultures equally. Except ours. ~Bob.)

President Obama’s Speech Gets A Thumbs Down From Political Press Corps. By Hunter Walker
Excerpt: Prior to President Barack Obama’s marathon 54 minute speech in Ohio today, the Obama campaign sent our several statements promising the speech would be a major address framing the campaign going forward. Despite the hype, the speech was mainly a rehash of themes and ideas from the president’s recent stump speeches and his remarks were widely panned as overly long by the political press corps. (If the press is catching on, he's done. ~Bob.)

Obama’s 2008 Young Voters Find Little Hope in Job Market
Excerpt: In the hard economic times since 2008, when Foster voted for President Barack Obama’s message of hope, America’s young voters have been battered. They’ve disproportionately sustained job losses, wage declines and detours on their career paths.
For many, even the normal rites of passage to adulthood have been disrupted, as they delay such life steps as leaving home, getting married and having children.

Steep Rise in Health Costs Projected
Excerpt: Defying historical trends, health spending in the United States has slowed dramatically since the recession began. As individual consumers have seen a reduction in their disposable income, they have been forced to cut back on typical expenditure categories. As a result, elective health care spending has been delayed or forgone, causing the slowdown, says the Wall Street Journal. National health care spending growth was 3.8 percent in 2009, the smallest increase on record, and was followed by a similar 3.9 percent in 2010. In a new report published by Health Affairs, economists project similar rises averaging 4 percent annually for 2011, 2012 and 2013. (Actual 2011 spending hasn't yet been calculated.) These increases are roughly on track with growth in the economy as a whole, meaning that health spending as a portion of gross domestic product (GDP) has remained relatively constant. Some economists have analyzed these figures and suggested that they may portend lower health spending for the foreseeable future. However, the Health Affairs study debunks this, stating that the full implementation of the health care reform law and an aging population will result in a significant increase in spending.

Corporate Welfare Spending vs. the Entrepreneurial Economy
Excerpt: Rising spending and huge deficits are pushing the nation toward an economic crisis. There is general agreement that policymakers need to terminate wasteful and damaging programs in the federal budget. One good place to find savings is spending on corporate welfare, say Chris Edwards, the director of tax policy studies, and Tad DeHaven, a budget analyst on federal and state budget issues, at the Cato Institute. Some people claim that business subsidies are needed to help fix market failures in the economy. But corporate welfare is just as likely to create failures by misallocating resources and inducing businesses to spend time on lobbying rather than on making better products. Importantly, corporate welfare is rampant in the spending of the federal government.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood warn of 'dangerous' days
Excerpt: The decision by the Supreme Court on Thursday plunged Egypt into turmoil. The court said last year's parliamentary vote - the first free and fair poll in decades - was unconstitutional, and called for fresh elections. The decision effectively puts legislative power into the hands of the ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (Scaf), who were tasked with overseeing Egypt's transition after the toppling of President Hosni Mubarak in February 2011. (Ah, the glorious “Arab Spring,” celebrated by the liberal media. To be followed by the “Bloody Summer.” ~Bob.)

Obama: Lost President, Desperate Candidate. By Crystal Wright
Excerpt: This is the worst of times for President Obama. He’s a president on the ropes, up for re-election in the worst economy since the Great Depression with no successes to run on and a Supreme Court who may rule this month his signature initiative Obamacare is unconstitutional. And just when you think Obama can’t step into any more proverbial poop . . . well, he does. With nothing left in his arsenal and desperate to save his job, Obama has resorted to pandering to black voters, whom he largely has ignored during his presidency, and petty attacks on Mitt Romney. (I follow her on Twitter—when I have time for Twitter: @GOPBlackChick. Always sends good stuff, she’s bright and brave. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: On Wednesday the Department of Energy began financing solar power installation research with a $2 million award to Solar Mosaic. The solar energy research company has former Obama “green jobs” czar Van Jones listed as an advisor. It also employed Rebuild the Dream, Jones’ firm, to do its public relations work.

Losing faith on campaign finance. By Dave Levinthal
Excerpt: Barack Obama has long cast himself as a warrior against the influence of big money in politics. But as the 2012 election is saturated by billions of dollars, campaign-finance reformers have largely lost faith in a president they say is willfully neglecting his reformist agenda while cynically embracing key elements of a new, laissez-faire election system he’s long demonized. (If you are looking for campaign finance reform from a guy who has already held more fund raisers than the last five presidents combined, you are looking “for grace at a graceless face,” as Johnnie Armstrong told James the Sixth just before James hanged him. ~Bob.)

Running on empty Prez is falling back on failed arguments. By John Podhoretz
Man, is Barack Obama running dry. The president gave a speech about the economy yesterday to put his stumbling campaign on a strong new footing — and cribbed most of it from speeches he delivered last year. OK, presidents repeat themselves; it’s no crime.

MI5 warned Scotland Yard that policemen in its ranks were suspected of attending terrorist training camps, it can be disclosed.
Excerpt: The policemen lost their jobs when their security clearance was revoked by senior officers after checks were carried out because of fears of “sleepers” in the ranks. The Sunday Telegraph can also disclose today the identity of one of the policemen suspected of being at a terror camp in 2001. Abdul Rahman had been a constable for almost three years when MI5 warned that he might have visited a training camp in Pakistan when he travelled there.

How Taxmageddon Will Impact You
Excerpt: "I've said that this is a make-or-break moment for the middle class, and I believe it," President Obama told an Ohio crowd yesterday. Indeed it is—because in a sluggish economy, American taxpayers are about to be clobbered by the largest tax increase in history.

Regent orders churches closed, destroyed in Aceh
Excerpt: The discovery that a regent in Aceh ordered 20 places of worship closed in April is raising concerns that growing intolerance will trigger communal conflicts. The closures were ordered by Aceh Singkil Acting Regent Razali AR in a letter signed on April 30 that also ordered members of the congregations to tear down the churches by themselves. (Tolerant Islam in moderate Indonesia. ~Bob.)

ID Required At Obama Speech But Not To Vote
Excerpt: President Barack Obama's presidential campaign checked the identification of the supporters attending Obama's "framing" event at Cuyahoga Community College today. The 1,500 supporters in attendance picked up tickets at campaign offices in Northeast Ohio beginning on Monday, though tickets to the event made no mention of an ID requirement. (Guess he wants to keep out those minorities who can’t get IDs. The racist bastards. ~Bob.)

No Honor Among Thieves: Infighting Dooms New Hamas Convoy
Excerpt: Participants in the latest convoy to deliver supplies to Hamas-controlled Gaza are lashing out at British MP George Galloway and his aides for "incompetence" and "increasingly bizarre and dangerous decisions" after the effort fell short of crossing into the Palestinian territory. (Should be, “No honor among thugs…” ~Bob.)

Excerpt: The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin giving work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children and have since led law-abiding lives, the AP reports. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of a growing Latino electorate that has opposed administration deportation policies. The administration's decision will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants. (If they came as kids, it was the parents, not them, responsible for breaking the law. My hair is not on fire over this one. Though I realize in politics, there are no final compromises until the camel is in the tent. ~Bob. Yes, but it will affect 100 MILLION unemployed Americans living in fear of never getting a job again, thanks to the government's policy of giving away their jobs to illegal aliens. --Don Hank)

FLASHBACK: Obama on Deporting Illegals ‘America Is a Nation of Laws,’ Presidential Action Not ‘Appropriate.’ By Matt Cover
Excerpt: “America is a nation of laws, which means I, as the president, am obligated to enforce the law. I don't have a choice about that. That's part of my job,” Obama said in March 2011 at a town hall event hosted by the Spanish-language television network Univision. Obama, answering questions from students about deportations of young, school-age illegal immigrants, said that immigration laws were passed by Congress and that only the judiciary could interpret them.

Rep. Steve King to sue Obama administration over new immigration policy. By Matthew Boyle
Excerpt: Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King said Friday that he plans to sue the Obama administration to halt implementation of its newly announced selective illegal immigration law enforcement policy. He told Mike Huckabee on the former Arkansas governor’s radio program Friday that he successfully sued his own state’s governor — and won — over a similar separation-of-powers issue.

Obama Jobs Program: Help Illegals Compete With Americans For Scarce Jobs. By Mike Flynn
Excerpt: Today, the Obama Administration, in an obvious attempt to boost the President's flailing reelection campaign, announced that it would bypass Congress and rewrite the nation's immigration laws. The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of an influential Latino electorate that has been vocal in its opposition to administration deportation policies.

Lindsey Graham: Obama’s immigration end-run around Congress ‘possibly illegal.’ By Caroline May
Excerpt: South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham took to Twitter on Friday morning to express his frustration with the Obama administration’s announcement that it will provide de-facto amnesty to over 800,000 illegal immigrants. Calling it “possibly illegal” and charging the administration with playing politics, the senator did not mince words with a barrage of tweets over the course of an hour.

As world economic growth ebbs, talk of new stimulus surges
Excerpt: When world leaders take stock at a summit next week in Mexico, they’ll face the discomforting fact that four years of crisis-fighting, trillions of dollars in government stimulus spending and a massive effort from the world’s central banks have failed to produce the “strong, sustainable and balanced” world economy they are striving to build. Is it time to open the cash spigot again? (Our policies haven’t worked—let’s try them again! ~Bob.)

Michigan state Rep. Lisa Brown silenced for saying ‘vagina’http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0612/77445.html#ixzz1xrFIeshv
Excerpt: A Michigan lawmaker was blocked from speaking on the state House floor as punishment for referencing her private parts in an earlier speech. In a Wednesday speech on a controversial bill that would further regulate abortions, Rep. Lisa Brown concluded, “Finally Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you’re all so interested in my vagina, but ‘no’ means ‘no,’” according to The Detroit News. A day later, House Republicans refused to allow Brown, a Democrat, to weigh in on a school employee retirement bill. (I’m not sure about this. Now if she used the “C” word, like Obama $1M contributor Bill Maher did against Sarah Palin, to the left’s approval, it might be different. Though I never referenced my penis on the senate floor. I did pass around to selected colleagues a news story headlined, “Hall’s Organ is Unique.” But it was about the musical one in Mechanics’ Hall in Worcester. ~Bob.)

How shock waves will hit US if Greece drops euro
Excerpt: The unthinkable suddenly looks possible. Bankers, governments and investors are starting to prepare for Greece to stop using the euro as its currency, a move that could spread turmoil throughout the global financial system. The worst-case scenario envisions governments defaulting on their debts, a run on European banks and a worldwide credit crunch reminiscent of the financial crisis in the fall of 2008. (as long as they don’t give up on the Gyro…. ~Bob.)

Greek health system crumbles under weight of crisis
Excerpt: Greece's rundown state hospitals are cutting off vital drugs, limiting non-urgent operations and rationing even basic medical materials for exhausted doctors as a combination of economic crisis and political stalemate strangle health funding.
With Greece now in its fifth year of deep recession, trapped under Europe's biggest public debt burden and dependent on international help to keep paying its bills, the effects are starting to bite deeply into vital services. (The future of single-payers systems—which the progressives want to bring here. ~Bob.)

Not Worth a Continental. By Dr. Robert Owens
Excerpt: As a defense against the ravages of deflation the future Chairman of the Federal Reserve never actually said he would drop money from a helicopter. What he said was, “The U.S. government has a technology, called a printing press (or today, its electronic equivalent), that allows it to produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at no cost.” Which was coupled by later analysts and pundits with the statement, “A money-financed tax cut is essentially equivalent to Milton Friedman’s famous ‘helicopter drop’ of money.”

Excerpt: Oh my, this is not good… The June Empire State Manufacturing Survey indicates that manufacturing activity expanded slightly over the month. The general business conditions index fell fifteen points, but remained positive at 2.3. The new orders index declined six points to 2.2, and the shipments index fell a steep nineteen points to 4.8. (Now whom do you believe? The media, which never want to alarm you with superfluous details such as facts, and the candidates, neither of whom seem even to notice? OR people who look at actual economic data on a daily basis and know the cause-effect relationships they show? If you believe the former, go ahead and take out the biggest loan you can get and purchase European bonds with it! Go on. How could you lose? The bankrupt nations are all being bailed out, aren't they? Printing money can't hurt anyone, can it? The Weimar Republic is a figment of old German people's imagination, right? --Don Hank)

Rubio: Dems ‘pit Americans against each other’ to win elections. By Michelle Fields
Excerpt: “….That the only way you can climb up the economic latter is for you to give us the power to pull some people down. They literally pit Americans against each other by design for purposes of winning an election. And that’s never who we’ve been. That never is who we have been aspired to be and that is not who we should become, and yet that is what is at issue in these elections….”

The White House leaks reek of vanity. By Rich Lowry
Excerpt: Among all the words in the press airing the Obama administration’s secret national-security programs, one sentence stands out. Appearing in The New York Times, it explains why President Obama personally approves drone strikes: “A student of writings on war by Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, he believes that he should take moral responsibility for such actions.” Now, who would know that President Obama is a student of Augustine and Aquinas — or, to put a finer point on it, that Obama considers himself a student of Augustine and Aquinas?

Exclusive—McConnell: ‘Radical, Dangerous’ Obama Admin Seeks To ‘Shut Up’ Opponents
Excerpt: Tomorrow, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will speak at American Enterprise Institute, where he is scheduled to talk about anti-First Amendment intimidation by the Obama Administration and by the political left associated with it. ..…Most frightening of all, says McConnell, is that David Axelrod, head of the president’s re-election campaign and former White House honcho, has stated that “he wants to amend the First Amendment – the ultimate act of radicalism – to give to the federal government the ability to control the speech of American citizens who band together to pursue a political cause.

Obama To Celebs: ‘You’re The Ultimate Arbiter Of Which Direction This Country Goes.’ By John Nolte
Excerpt: Though a major part of the President's re-election strategy is to paint his opponent, Governor Mitt Romney, as out-of-touch, this is what President Common Man told a room full of A-listers last night, that included Sarah Jessica Parker, her husband Matthew Broderick, Meryl Streep, and Vogue editor/Syria propagandist Anna Wintour: "You're the tie-breaker," he said. "You're the ultimate arbiter of which direction this country goes." Let us all step back for a moment to remember that this is the same man who endorses Occupy Wall Street. Obama spoke these creepy words at a $40,000-per-plate fundraiser that raked in a total of $2 million and took place in Sarah Jessica Parker's. (nothing says, “I’m the 99%” like paying $40k for dinner. ~Bob.)

Sen. Ayotte: Obama ‘hypocritical’ not to call for independent leaks investigator. By Jamie Weinstein
Excerpt: New Hampshire Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte said President Barack Obama is acting hypocritically by not supporting an independent special counsel to investigate the recent spat of national security leaks. “Let’s go back to the Valerie Plame investigation,” Ayotte said in an extensive interview with The Daily Caller in her Capitol Hill office. “I find it somewhat hypocritical that the president, then Sen. Obama at the time, called very strenuously for an independent special counsel in the Valerie Plame investigation, as did then Sen. Biden, who is now vice president of the United States.

Keystone Fallout: As Promised, Canada Building Pipelines to Sell Oil To China
Excerpt: In April, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper revealed disheartening consequences for America's energy policy at a think-tank event in Washington. Asked about President Obama's decision to put off a decision on the construction of the cross-border Keystone XL pipeline, Harper explained that it would permanently alter Canadian energy policy.

Chicago hedge fund manager switches from 2008 Obama fan to Romney backer
By Abdon M. Pallasch
Excerpt: But this year, Griffin — ranked by Forbes as Chicago’s fifth-richest man — and his wife Anne, a French-born hedge fund manager herself, are all in with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, telling friends and interviewers they think Romney will better manage the economy. (He gave equally to Obama and McCain in 08. In 21974, I discovered two of my contributors had given equal amounts to my opponent. I said nothing and took the money. But all they bought with that was my contempt, in a way that people who fully supported my opponent didn’t. ~Bob.)

The sexual harassment scandal that caused havoc in the North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) weeks ago resurfaced on Thursday when the former staffer who made the original allegation sued the party. Adriadn Ortega, who was fired from the NCDP in November 2011, alleged that now former NCDP Executive Director Jay Parmley sexually harassed him.

VIDEO: Obama Scolds Reporter Who Interrupted Him
Excerpt: President Obama, visibly angry, scolded a reporter at the White House Rose Garden today after he was interrupted while announcing a new immigration policy. “The next time I prefer you let me finish my statements before you ask a question,” Obama said. The reporter who interrupted the president was the Daily Caller’s Neil Munro, who, according to TPM’s Brian Beutler (who was also in attendance) identified himself as an immigrant and then walked off. (Not the right kind of immigrant, I suspect. But the reporter gave Obama a chance to turn the focus on him from the issue, by acting like Obama’s OWS fans—not smart. ~Bob.)

Taxpayers Foot Bill For Obama Celebrity Fundraisers
Hope you are paying your ‘fair share” of this. ~Bob. Excerpt: This is how Obama saves money for his campaign and makes taxpayers foot the heavy part of the bill. He schedules an ‘official visit’ to the World Trade Center on the same day he’s going to multiple fundraisers in Manhattan:

Excerpt: A University of California, Los Angeles research professor is suing the university to keep his job of more than 35 years after questionable management of his grant money and his termination, allegedly for exposing illegal and unethical practices among his colleagues and for criticizing their research. Dr. James E. Enstrom’s peer-reviewed research challenged California’s status quo by contending that exposure to fine particulate matter, like diesel particles, does not kill. (The Left’s war to politicize science. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: The individual mandate isn’t Obamacare’s only unconstitutional provision, or even its most unconstitutional provision. That distinction belongs to the Independent Payment Advisory Board. A heretofore unreported feature of this super-legislature makes it even more authoritarian and dangerous than anyone knew.
