WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATORS DEMANDING THEY SUPPORT THIS AND MAKE IT 'VETO PROOF'

HOUSE BILL SEEKS TO DENY ‘SANCTUARY CITIES’ IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT FUNDSRep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) introduced a 2013 appropriations bill containing a provision prohibiting the Department of Justice (DOK) from disbursing State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) funds to cities and states that fail to enforce federal immigration law. The amendment was approved 247-163 by the House, with eight Republicans voting against and 23 Democrats in favor on May 10th.

The bill also contained an amendment by Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), which prevents the DOJ  from using funds to sue states that implement voter ID laws. The bill now heads to the Senate though Barack Obama has already threatened to veto the measure arguing that it includes deeper cuts than those agreed to under last year’s Budget Control Act.
