“How Blind Can People Be?”

People such as Rep. Mark Strams (D - Austin) think that studying the Arabic language (and culture) is similar to studying Spanish, French, or German; but these people groups have not currently declared war on Americans, have not been involved in countless bomb plots and terrorist activities, did not fly their planes into tall buildings killing nearly 3000 innocent Americans, did not kill 13 people at Ft. Hood, do not have a Muslim Brotherhood that is stealthily infusing itself into every part of our American culture, and are not adamant about forcing our U. S. courts to accept Sharia law.

The Associated Press reported on 7.7.11, “Airlines are being warned by the government that terrorists are considering surgically hiding bombs inside humans to evade airport security. As a result, travelers may find themselves subjected to more scrutiny when flying in the heart of summer vacation season, especially to the U.S. from abroad.”

As reported by the Wall Street Journal on 7.7.11, “Surgically implanting explosives into the body is medically feasible and wouldn't require extensive training, according to medical experts…. ‘It is absolutely conceivable that explosives could be secreted in the body,’ said Malcolm Roth, president-elect of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. ‘It's certainly not a stretch to say that where there's a will, there's a way. ’"

Islam is a theopolitical belief system and is totally a part of the Arabic culture. In other words, the Arabic language cannot be studied without learning about Islamic religious beliefs, practices, and the cultural/political ties to Mohammed, the Quran, Sharia law, Jihad, etc.

Separating concepts in Islam from concepts specific to Arab culture, or from the language itself, can be difficult. Many Arabic concepts have an Arabic secular meaning as well as an Islamic meaning. One example is the concept of dawah. One of the complexities of the Arabic language is that a single word can have multiple meanings. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_Islam)

Do we want our innocent school children to be seduced into Islam by becoming captivated by a study of the Arabic culture and Islamic belief system?   Do we as taxpayers want to pay for this Islamic indoctrination of our school children?

It is not being xenophobic to want to protect our children and grandchildren from being radicalized by Islamists who believe in jihad. All we have to do is to look around and read the latest headlines.
