JUST HOW DEEP IS OBAMA INTO GE'S POCKET?

Requiring Americans to Purchase Expensive CFLs
Is Helping GE Help Obama
If members of Congress refuse to pass Sen. Mike Enzi's (R-Wyo.) Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act, then everyone who wants to use traditional incandescent light bulbs will be forced to move to South Carolina!

That's because in 2007 Congress passed the Renewable Fuels, Consumer Protection and Energy Efficient Act of 2007, a law that bans traditional incandescent light bulbs by including new lighting efficiency standards that will effectively phase out the use of 100 watt and 75 watt incandescent light bulbs by the year 2013!

The 2007 federal energy law requires the production of more energy efficient compact fluorescent (CFLs), halogen and LED bulbs, and phases out tradition incandescent light bulbs.

"Why should a select few legislators in 2007 be able to tell hundreds of millions of Americans what light bulbs are best for them? Why do we have a federal government so intent on taking away people's choices and limiting their options?" asked Sen. Mike Enzi. "It's time the federal government starts worrying less about what light bulbs people buy and more about how it's going fix the deficit."

Join Conservative Action Alerts and tell Congress to REJECT and REPEAL the 2007 energy standards that would require every American Consumer to PURCHASE CFLs! SEND FAXES to every member of Congress and send a CLEAR message to OBAMA that we don't want Obama-Certified CFLs that are EXPENSIVE and TOXIC! Join CAA's effort to stop WASHINGTON BUREAUCRATS from forcing their Nanny State agenda on YOU, a hard-working American --- SEND YOUR FAXES NOW!

Environmental do-gooders and Washington bureaucrats think they're smarter than you, and that alone gives them the right to take your purchasing power away from you and force you to buy the products of their choosing.

The 2007 federal energy law encourages production of more energy efficient CFLs, halogen and LED bulbs, and requires manufacturers to phase out traditional incandescent bulbs next year!

The South Carolina bill trumps the federal energy standards and allows South Carolina manufactures to make and sell traditional incandescent light bulb that can ONLY be manufactured and purchased in South Carolina.

Washington bureaucrats believed that CFLs would save Americans from a looming energy crisis and mounting debts, because these light bulbs were supposed to be more energy efficient and safe. As it turns out, CFLs -- the "energy efficient alternative" -- are anything but safe.

If Congress refuses to PASS Sen. Enzi's BULB Act, then those of us who don't live in the Palmetto State will be FORCED to pay more for
EXPENSIVE and TOXIC CFLs.

"The EPA doesn't like the new bulbs because the amount of mercury in one bulb is enough to contaminate up-to 6,000 gallons of water beyond safe drinking levels," said Sen. Enzi.

Fluorescent lighting gives off minute particles of X-ray and other electromagnetic pollutants, including mercury, that pose potential health risks. Researchers have also determined that CFLs can cause headaches and eye strain, and can hinder productivity for those who are dyslexic or suffer from attention deficit disorders.

Energy Star, a division of the EPA, says "Humans must leave the premises for three hours after removing a broken bulb."
Are you prepared to leave your home, including any pets you may have, for THREE HOURS just because you broke a light bulb?

Reps. Joe Barton (R-Texas), Michael Burgess (R-Texas), and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), have introduced H.R. 6411 in the House that is similar to Sen. Enzi's BULB Act.

Rep. Barton (R-Texas), said, "From the health insurance you're allowed to have, to the car you can drive, to the light bulbs you can buy, Washington is making too many decisions that are better left to people who work for their own paychecks and earn their own living."

CFLs, a light bulb invention that was once believed to be an energy and environmental solution to America's problems, is quickly becoming a more expensive and more dangerous alternative that many American families say they simply cannot afford.

Tell Congress to STOP chipping away at your Freedoms and Liberties!

We are Americans! We don't live in a country where the government controls our purchasing decisions! We should have the right to purchase traditional incandescent light bulbs, or light bulb alternatives--this decision is OURS to make NOT THE GOVERNMENT.

Join the fight against the Nanny State. Conservative Action Alerts has set up an easy way for you to SEND FAXES to every Member of Congress, and tell them to REPEAL the 2007 energy standards that would require every American Consumer to PURCHASE CFLs! FORCING CONSUMERS to BUY EXPENSIVE and TOXIC CFLs is not acceptable --- SEND YOUR FAXES NOW!

Forcing Americans to make an expensive purchase during a time of 9 percent unemployment, looming tax increases, and a $14 trillion debt, is no time to stick Americans with another BIG purchase. Stop living in Obama's FANTASY world where taking more money from hard-working Americans is the solution to every problem!

Tell Congress to vote FOR the BULB ACT, because it will save jobs, save money, and give Americans the FREEDOM to purchase they want.

Sincerely,

Tony Adkins
