FOOD, FUEL AND CLOTHINGS COSTS INCREASE UNDER OBAMA - INFLATION OF ASTRONOMICAL PROPORTIONS EXPECTED!

CONSERVATIVE ACTION ALERTS

Steep increases in food and fuel prices are having a negative impact on Americans who are already suffering financially from paying $4 a gallon at the pump, and possibly $5 a gallon by the end of May.

Now, we are getting hit again with coffee prices at a 34-year high at $3 a pound!

Gas prices have DOUBLED since Obama was sworn into office. Food prices, too, are increasing. Every penny increase in the price of gasoline, according to Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), sucks $4 million out of the consumer economy.
WE HAVE PRECIOUS PENNIES LEFT ... THAT'S THE "CHANGE" OBAMA HAS GIVEN US!

As long as Obama insists on using ethanol for fuel, were going to see price increases in food, coffee, and everything else we purchase.

Obama's energy policy is cutting into our domestic food supply! American farmers are planting 92.2 million acres of corn this year. That is four million acres more than we planted last year...meanwhile our corn supply is nearing a 15-year low.

WHY?

Because almost 40% of America's corn crop last year went into the gas tanks of our cars and not in the dinner pots of American homes. In the 2005 and the 2007 energy bills, Congress mandated that ethanol be incorporated into fuel blends.

As more and more corn gets burned in our cars less corn is available to U.S. consumers as basic food.

We must reverse Obama's drilling moratorium, and resolve our price crises by drilling for oil in the U.S. and alleviate the pain at the pump.

The U.S. IS NOT IMMUNE FROM SUFFERING A FOOD SHORTAGE: With all the grain shortages facing the world, we are just one drought or one flood, away from a worldwide famine or food supply collapse that will affect OUR food supply and OUR gas prices!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts that food prices in the U.S. will rise an additional 4% percent this year. In the last six months of 2010, global corn prices jumped from $3.50 to $7 a bushel while wheat jumped 80%. USDA chief economist Joe Glauber predicted that this trend will continue as prices rise and global supplies contract.

As the price of corn has soared, so has the price of ethanol. From early 2010 to early 2011, ethanol prices rose almost 50% from roughly $1.70 per gallon to $2.50 per gallon. We currently use nearly one-third of the U.S. corn crop to make ethanol.

The USDA estimates that in the coming years,
70% of the corn usage will be for fuel, not food!

This year, the U.S. is expected to produce 13.5 billion bushels of corn. Of that, ethanol will consume 5 billion bushels---that's 37% of the total; the amount used for food is 1.1 billion, 8.3% of the total. Oh, by the way, in case you forgot, we also export 16% of our corn. And you wondered why 13.5 ounces of corn flakes costs almost $4. Because we now pay fuel prices for our food. And, as the price of oil goes up, so do food prices because food is now on two price indexes.

What we are doing is precipitating not one, but TWO man-made disasters. First, by using our food crops for something other than feeding our population, we have created a food supply-and-demand problem replete with shortages and escalating prices based on fuel costs that will get worse as environmentalists impose ever more draconian regulations on the carbon fuel industry in the United States. Add to that the myriad of revolutions in the Mideast which are driving up the price of oil as the United States sits on the largest untapped oil and natural gas reserves in the world - and add to that the fact that 69% of the American people want government to overturn decades of drilling bans and open the spigot for domestic oil drilling and refining.

We must STOP using our food resources to fuel our cars! We're causing a crisis of astronomical proportions and have already increased our domestic food prices by 36% since last year because of the Food-Fuel-Folly. We have the oil, and the TIME TO ACT IS NOW... let's stop drilling for fuel in our corn fields and get back to drilling for oil in the oil fields that the environmentalists have shut down.

On April 14, the World Bank released data on global food prices, confirming that food prices are pushing people into poverty. Soon, we will not be able to afford either the gas we put in our gas tanks or the food we put in our stomachs.

The kicker is, the World Food Bank concluded that one of the primary reasons for the increase in food prices is the increased use of biofuels production. The report further blames the increase in food prices for high fuel prices. Crude oil rose 21% in the first quarter as a result of the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa. When politicians and bureaucrats meddle with the free market, bad things happen, and the people pay for that meddling with higher prices, more regulation and far, far less "free enterprise."

Increasing fuel prices have already affected food prices. The increase in world oil prices caused by the crisis in the Middle East and North Africa has increased food prices up-to 36%.

We must STOP using our food resources to fuel our cars! We're causing a crisis of astronomical proportions and have already increased our domestic food prices by 36% since last year. We must STOP buying our oil from Venezuela and Brazil's new offshore oil fields, end our voluntary dependency on Mideast oil! With lower production of corn crops to feed the world, does it make sense that a large amount of the U.S's corn crop will be used for ethanol?

It takes 26 pounds of corn to equal one gallon of ethanol.

Cornell University found that it takes 140 gallons of fossil fuels to plant, grow and harvest 1 acre of corn, which is around 183 bushels. Once harvested, it takes even more fossil fuels to convert the corn into ethanol. Cornell concluded that it took more fuel to produce ethanol than ethanol would yield in return. They came to the same conclusion using switchgrass, wood, soybean, and sunflowers.

GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE. SOME STATES
ARE ALREADY AT $5 A GALLON!

As we debate whether or not we should drill in the coastal waters of the U.S. -- as every other oil producing country already is -- we face two shocking realities. First, the U.S. is facing $5 per gallon gasoline, or even higher, in the very near future if something is not done to relieve the pressure valve. That relief valve is the U.S. domestic oil industry itself. Even though today that industry is shut out of its own country by environmentalists who believe U.S. oil producers contaminate, but the other nations drilling along the Florida Keys, in the Gulf of Mexico, and along with the Atlantic and Pacific coasts don't. It's time to exercise some basic logic... while we can still afford to think!

Obama is now investing $2 billion of U.S. taxpayers' dollars in the Tupi oil fields near Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.

Once again, the American taxpayers are funding jobs for someone else. And once more, we are dependent on foreign powers for oil.

This time, the oil is "owned" by Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil conglomerate. And, while one of the biggest investors in Petrobras is Obama's mentor and campaign contributor, George Soros, two well-known transnational oil giants will drill the wells. One of the wells will be drilled by BP, the other by Shell Oil. Obama proudly announced that the U.S. "bought" all of the oil those wells will produce.

We are funding job growth in Brazil with the proceeds from
our unemployment checks!

Common sense says it's time to drill here, in the U.S., where we have an abundance of oil - and where we also have Americans looking for jobs.

Cuba and its partners are about to drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico, but U.S. companies cannot do the same. That means not only is Cuba able to tap into resources Americans should be benefiting from, but they are putting us at risk of hazards and spills we have no control over.

Every oil-producing country in the world is drilling in the Florida Keys, Gulf of Mexico, and along the California coast - EXCEPT THE U.S.!!

Drilling for oil here in the U.S. would not only reduce our prices and prevent us from being at the mercy of the volatile Middle Eastern region, but it would also BRING JOBS TO AMERICA.

We have PLENTY of oil here in the U.S. James Bartis, a researcher who did a study with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the North Dakota Geological Survey, says America has more oil in our Bakken Formation than is in the entire Middle East.

SO, WHY CAN'T WE TOUCH IT?

Because, the Obama administration and his cronies have joined forces with the environmentalists who oppose U.S. oil production. They prefer to send American taxpayers' dollars TO TERRORISTS, just so we can get oil!

We must STOP using our food resources to fuel our cars! We're causing a crisis of astronomical proportions and have already increased our domestic food prices by 36% since last year. The U.S. has more untapped oil reserves than any other nation, yet we're totally dependent on foreign oil! There is enough oil in the continental U.S. to supply all of our needs for the next 300 to 500 years. All we have to do is turn on the spigot and start using U.S. oil.

NO LONGER can we stand to be at the whims and wishes of Middle East terrorist or Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. When we rely more and more on foreign oil - it spells disaster.

The U.S. can no longer accept the rhetoric that it is cheaper to get oil from our enemies than it is to drill at home. We must do something NOW.

Sincerely,

Tony Adkins
