CALIFORNIA - LIBERAL POLS WOULD RATHER KEEP ILLEGAL VOTERS!

California anti-illegal immigration bills die

A state Legislative committee rejected AB26 Secure Immigration Act and AB1018 – both bills targeted illegal immigration in California. AB26 would have allowed citizens to launch lawsuits against any local government that operates as a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. It also would have mandated that every California employer use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of employees to work in the U.S. AB 1018 would have required all state agencies to use a federal verification program to ensure that the person was eligible for state-funded benefits.

Both bills were inspired by Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law SB 1070.  The bills were defeated along party lines and dismissed by opponents of the bills as “needlessly divisive” and “unconstitutional.”
