ARIZONA - TELL GOVERNOR BREWER, "REPRESENT THE PEOPLE NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANIES!

Dear Conservatives,

We all know ObamaCare must be repealed.  But in order to reform the nation’s health care system we have to replace the president’s big government scheme with free market principles that will lower costs, improve care, and empower doctors and patients.
The Arizona Legislature has just passed the most comprehensive bill ever to open up state borders and allow real competition into the health care marketplaceGovernor Jan Brewer has until Thursday to sign the bill and she is getting inundated with calls from those who don’t want competition.
This isn’t just a local issue; we need to make sure that the whole country knows what is at stake in this fight.  Take action today to show that free market competition can work to lower health care costs while still keeping quality service high.  Please call and email Governor Brewer today and ask her to sign SB 1593 and promote health care freedom.

The phone numbers for Gov. Brewer's office are: (602) 542-1361 and (602) 542-4331

Policy details of Arizona SB 1593:
  • Allows any insurer with a certificate of authority (state insurance term for license) in any state to sell their policies to Arizona citizens
  • Those policies will have the benefit mandates of the originating state only
  • Many Arizona basic consumer protections are included --- for example, AZ false claims act, prompt pay, privacy provisions-- with basic monitoring done by Arizona Department of Insurance
  • Breaking these laws and other sanctions will give the Arizona Department of Insurance the right to keep the insurer from selling policies in Arizona for 2 years
  • Arizona courts specifically given jurisdiction over cases that might come from the policies
  • Arizona insurers may sell a policy with the 'slate' of mandates that derives from other states... so the policies could look, on the one end, like Idaho or on the high end, like Rhode Island, when it comes to mandates.
  • The intent is to give Arizona families, individuals and businesses MORE choices when it comes to health insurance.
Sincerely,
